Yeah, I think I've pretty much made my opinion on the "compulsory newbie post" issue known, so I'll just skip over that to...
Deleting inactive accounts. I like the idea of cleaning up old, unused accounts that simply hang around and clutter the place, but the problem lies with deleting those accounts and the accounts of members who simply don't have time to log in as often as they'd like. How do we differentiate? If we can't , I say nah. Don't want to delete an active user's account by accident...
All for the Northern Crater. 'Course, we'll have to draw the boundaries--I think the ones suggested are a good start. And pirates. Because he is immature and not srs and can easily handle the atmosphere of such a place. :p
As for the swear filter, I think it goes without saying that f**k should be filtered; you'd be surprised by how many people take offense when I say that in public. :p B*tch, I think, should be censored, simply because people commonly associate it with its negative definition. But we could always argue that we purely meant female dog. LIES! LIES I TELL YOU!! Unsure about b*stard, but I think it's fine. And, as far as I'm concerned, crap, hell, p**s, and damn are not swear words. Slightly vulgar maybe, but not swears.
And the witty funny replacements are a MUST. :B
I rather like Wood's suggested policy for off-topic posts. No qualms there.

My plan was to delete inactive members, or those who have been around for over six months without posting anything ever, at all. That means a good chunk of the 'members' in our lists would be gone, because people signed up and never wrote anything. You wouldn't have to worry about members that are taking a break--Unwinding and Ronin, etc. would be safe, because they have posted and we are aware that they are still there, somewhere.
Does that answer your question?

For the record, it's not that I think people shouldn't try to be good to each other, but that I do not believe they should be modded if they are not.

Does that answer your question? Not sure if it was already mentioned, but whatever. It would be a good idea if you send an E-mail to the inactive user warning their account will be deleted soon. Give them time to respond and resolve the account deletion. if they don't respond within a set time period, delete it. I think it would make it fair for everyone. As to who would be in charge of the account deletion, how about a small group of Mods. just for that purpose. Once a week they could hold a meeting to discuss any inactive accounts on the site, take a vote on whether or not the account should be deleted or not. The number of Mods. should be kept at an odd number to avoid a hung decision on a vote. I think it might work.

Oh - and the pit should have a mod. Pirates. I agree with everything you said, and I especially agree with this. GO TEAM GO!

And this makes me twitchy enough to post in here. Still, very good idea for keeping the clutter-accounts to a minimum.
I've got to get some time to hang around before I know who would fit where, but good luck with this.

For the record, it's not that I think people shouldn't try to be good to each other, but that I do not believe they should be modded if they are not. And no one has accused you of such. All we're trying to do here is work out exactly where the line should be drawn in a way that will please as many members as possible. Look guys, I'm well aware that not everyone is going to be completely happy in the end, but I need your feedback so I can at least try to work out a compromise. In regards to deleting old accounts, I'll feel that as we're moving anyway, it'll be unnecessary over here. Any members who want to move with us can, and for those that turn up late, well there will be links to the new forum anyway. It's when we move over that we'd need to keep an eye out and the number of clutter accounts down to a minimum. But yeah, my two cents on the rule situation - you're all doing great! GO TEAM! GO! Oh - and the pit should have a mod. Pirates. Firstly, thank you. Secondly, I'm confused... The idea of the Crater was to provide a mod-free zone. If you worried about keeping the 'srs' away, then you of all people should know that I don't need to make pirates a mod to do so - he'd stick his nose in regardless!

Doesn't it just sound Pirates? The one board that's mod free would be modded by him? I think I'm funny sometimes... ;D

And that's what I'm trying to do -- offer my take, and making an effort to clarify it in case it has not been properly understood. Not trying to re-start something.

I'm beginning to get very bored of your posts. To save me time and effort, could you just put:
"TL;DR, I disagree with everyone"
at the end of your posts?
I'm a busy guy.

Summary of all pirates' posts: "LOL LOOK AT ME BEING WITTY LOL." Throw in some kissing up to Clan and possibly a Rickroll, and voila: Pirates a la mode.

It's not kissing up - it's mutual respect. Geeze Pen, get it right!
It's actually a code language that is plotting everyone's downfall - which is why we should all get back on the topic of creating rules to ensure the survival of us all...

Something that popped into my head while catching up on these posts - IP addresses.
Is it going to be the same as before, whereas in if someone has the same IP address as you, you're suspected of starting a sock-puppet?
Everyone I've met, between friends and other people who use Jab 44 have the same IP address, which is what me and Kas use. I live in Carrick-on-Suir in Tipperary, but I think my IP address says I'm either in Cork or Limerick, both of which are about an hour and a half to two hours away from where I live. There's also five computers in my house, all of which are on the same router and have the same IP Address, a friend is after getting the connection in, he lives about fifteen/twenty minutes away from me, and he has the same IP address as me.
I'm just curious.

Ren, I really don't think IP Addresses work that way. Even me and my brother and my father don't have the same IP Addresses, and we are all on the same networks.
Besides, if you really want to make a sockpuppet, then learn how to use a proxy =P
Also, they can't help that. If your IP Address is the same as a completely different user's, then that means you have been using your computer to access that other account (i.e. a sockpuppet, most likely). Every computer has a different IP Address.
