Steph pounded down the stairs. "Hey, Mom? I'm gonna go see if I can catch a ride with Drama and Josie to Dama's house to get her stuff, okay?"
"Of course, Honey," her mom said in reply.
Steph ran outside back to Josie's car. "We gonna go get your stuff?" she asked, buckling in.

Sylla looked over to the house. There were three girls out on the driveway, getting into a car... driving away.
"Great," she snorted. "I'll ask them when they come back, then."
She turned to the boy standing next to her. "By the way, what's your real name?" she inquired.

Dramaya nodded in response to Steph's question. "Yep." She surveyed the Maverick painting again, then held it out for Steph to see. "Hey, what do you think of this? Does it look like the Maverick Mansion?"
As she allowed Steph to give it another look-over, Dramaya happened to glance out the back window again, and was startled to see no one else other than Nicholas standing in a driveway several houses away. Although there was a girl with him whom she didn't recognize, there was no mistaking him.
"Hey", she spoke up, still staring at him. "It's Nicholas down there."

"Me? My name is Nicholas. Nice to meet you." He stuck out his hand.
"And you are...?"
"Sylla." The woman before him replied.
"Cool. You know I think I know someone who might help you." Nicholas looked at his hand again, feeling nervous about calling Steph. I barely know these people, I wonder what I'm going to say when I tell them about Sylla.
Nicholas inputted the number into his phone and called Steph. "Hey Steph, its Nicholas."

"Oh! Hey Nick! Wait, can I call you Nick?" Steph asked, and she adjusted the phone. "You called kinda early. What's up?"
She returned the looks Josie and Drama gave her with a shrug. She didn't know what was going on either.

Josephine nodded. “I’m not sure what I’ll find out by looking at the house or what I’m going to do exactly, but yeah let’s just get there first.”
A few moments later Steph appeared from the front door with a fresh T-shirt. Dramaya asked her what she thought of the painting, but before Steph could answer, Dramaya was distracted by something some distance away. That boy Nicholas is here. Could it be just coincidence that their paths have crossed twice on the same day? What is he doing here?
In answer, Steph’s cell phone suddenly rang and it was from him! Josephine quickly gave Steph an inquiring look, but she gave her a shrug, while waiting for him to explain himself at the other end of the line. Josephine held her breath. In her mind there could only be two reasons as to why he was calling so soon-either he was interested in Steph or Drama or it was something to do with the mansion.

Nicholas cringed at the nickname. Only his sister called him Nick. But Steph seemed like a much more fun person than her, so he decided to let it slide.
"Uh, sure Steph its alright if you call me Nick. No big deal. Um, if you don't mind, I'd like to talk to Dramaya for a minute." Nicholas looked at Sylla, indicating he was getting the person of interest.

"Um... Okay," Steph said slowly. "Just don't talk on my phone for three straight hours with her okay? I used up most of my minutes already. See ya later, Nick!"
Wordlessly, she held out the phone to Drama.

"Hey Dramaya its Nicholas. Um, the reason I called is because there's someone who wants to talk to you about Maverick Mansion. She's a paranormal photographer and he name is Sylla. I'll transfer her over now." He handed the phone to Sylla.

Sylla took the phone and raised it to her ear.
"Hello- this is Dramaya, correct?"
"Um, that's correct." The voice sounded tinny and artificial.
"Nicholas told me you knew something about the Maverick Mansion- It'd be very helpful if you could tell me about it- whenever you have a free moment, of course. Would that be all right with you?" Sylla posed the question and prayed she'd give her the anwer she wanted.

"Sure... that's all right with me." Dramaya knew she just might as well tell her what she knew and get it over with. "Well, what I know is pretty much general knowledge about the Maverick Mansion. The Mavericks were murdered about fifty years ago, and the murderer added himself to their number by committing suicide. A family moved in a few years later, but then moved out only a month afterward. It's been empty ever since.
"As for living next to it... well, I've seen a lot over the past nine years. Just... mainly what you might call apparitions. I can never make them out too well, since they're always gone in a flash. I did see one kind of distinctly, though... Would you like me to tell you?"

Josephine turned to look at Steph, confusion etching on her face. Had Nicholas called Drama to simply interrogate her further about the mansion? How desperate was this guy?
“Steph why does Nicholas want more information about the mansion? What’s he up to?” And oh my God the murders! You guys didn’t tell me about that! And all those apparitions! Do you reckon the ghosts will try to harm us? Maybe get their revenge or something?”

Sylla felt her heart rate speed up slightly. Perfect- finally someone with information!
"If it's not too much trouble, I'd appreciate it," she stated.

Steph's eyes slid to the floor of the car. "Strange things happen there, Josie. It isn't a very nice place. Why would the ghosts try to harm us?" she asked softly. "If we stay out of there, they shouldn't bother us."
The girl bit her lip nervously, recalling the time she had tried to enter the mansion.

It was tempting for Dramaya to reply to Josephine, but then Sylla asked to hear more about the apparition Dramaya had seen, and she drew a breath.
"It was... only a year ago", she began. "I actually happened to be walking back from Steph's house-- where I am right now, and I always have to pass the Maverick home. Now, I never like looking over there if I can help it, but... something from inside the grounds caught my eye, and of course, I looked up."
Dramaya had to draw another breath to recollect herself before she continued. "I saw... the figure of a man, standing on the walkway to the front door. It was getting towards sunset, so I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, but I could see he had on a suit of some sort, like a business suit. It was as if he sensed me, because he turned to look at me for about ten seconds, and then was just... gone."
Retelling the paranormal event had been strenuous than Dramaya would have guessed, and she slumped back slightly against the seat. She could feel goosebumps creeping up her arms just trying to recall that day, and she was uncertain as to tell Sylla more about what she knew.
