Okay, so, on a reviewer's profile page, I found this awesome thing. It's called the Gender Genie, and it uses an algorithm to try to tell what your gender is by the way you write. I entered some different pieces of mine in to test it out. -My creepy play, The Mirror, came out as resoundingly Male in style. -My short story, "Roses," about a girl who kills her abusive husband after he destroys her flower garden, came out as overall female, but very close to a tie. -My short story, "Lucy and Death," came out resoundingly female. (That one I expected.) Then I moved onto my fanfiction! -The first chapter of The Strong, Silent Type = so female that the score is double that of the male portion. - Guilt By Association = female -Torture chapter of A Fine Line = male! Hmmm... I wonder what this says about me?

The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: female!
Well, we already knew that My Immortal was written by a girl.

My fanfics all came out female, which doesn't surprise me since I'm primarily a romance writer.
My original fiction came out resoundingly male, which does not surprise me in the least since it's not romantic at all. The main character in the story I c-p'd the entirety of is a sadistic dictator.

WHY THE HECK IS ALL OF MY PORN SAYING IT WAS WRITTEN BY A MALE?! (especially considering the fact that I take the men and abuse them in ways most wouldn't appreciate?)
I tried running Tenacity through, but it was too big... Oops?

All of my scores came out female despite the fact that I don't write from female point of views often, and when I do they're not usually romance. I guess I'm just that kind of writer.
However, if the male character's voice was very strong the difference was a matter of about a hundred words or less. So yeah.
Edit: Upon running some of my journal entries through, I found that most of my posts were female except for the posts where I just listed things.

I'm mostly female, except for a few instances where the narrative is unromantic and from the perspective of a male, and in a yaoi 50sentences challenge, which is also heavily male.

Aftermath: Female 1630, Male 1709 : MALE
One of my chapters from The Last Hundred Days: Female 2799, Male 2878 : MALE
That's nuts! Especially The Last Hundred Days! That's a romance! So there you have it... I write like a man.

@hope: I am surprised. But then again, I guess it's all based on the way you present the content instead of the content itself. I think the Gender Genie can't REALLY know what the content is...right?

Yeah, from what I gather it's based on certain words that are more typically male and female and how often you use each type of words. The reason I was suprised about TLHD was that I thought the content would have a big impact on the words that I chose, so romance = more feminine language. Apparently it's not neccessarily the case though.
