If anything, this move made me love them. You have no idea of the pleasure I get from laughing at people who bought a PS3 just for FFXIII. ...this reminds me that I bought a PS2 just for FFX.... They have me wrapped around their finger. And one of the reasons I bought a PSP was to play Crisis Core haha... But yeah, I don't get all these people whining about XIII being brought out on the Xbox as well. Who cares? The PS3 is the worst selling console out of the current generation of consoles I believe, proberly due to it being damn expensive, so it makes sense for SE to bring out the game on a better selling format as well, so more people can play the game and they make more profit. The PS3 still gets Versus XIII.

And hopefully Versus won't be a flop like XII was ... there seems to be a lot of hype-up about it.

Sighsighsigh.
I think SE made many mistakes, including some errors within the Compilation of FF7. Discrepancies litter it like leaves in autumn (terribly silly simile but you get the idea.)
SE's fantastic at graphics, especially since the release of Crisis Core. But I still somewhat detest the fact that they love to implicate every person with every other person so crazy fangirls can go wild with pairings. I may like ambiguity, but I also like some straight-forward relationships please.

Aerith has a lot of options - Tseng, Cloud AND Zack, and of course there's the love triangle, but that's all really, and most of the multiple love interests are in FFVII - which was Squaresoft rather than SE (they all stem from the original game rather than the compilation).

If anything, this move made me love them. You have no idea of the pleasure I get from laughing at people who bought a PS3 just for FFXIII. God, really? I thought people would've learned by now to not be deceived by the flashy but unoriginal graphics. Me, I use mine mostly for Metal Gear Solid 4 and playing videos. I swear, it is one of the most versatile and high-quality multimedia players out there. I love watching DVDs on it - it upscales it in such great fashion. Blah. Anyway. I bought it for MSG4. \sarcasm I actually did. Everyone else has learned to branch out and step out of their comfort zones with their ideas. If SE had any sense left, they should step out too. Gah. They DID, back when they were still a legitimate company. Anybody played Einhander? God, that game is gold. And it's a freaking side-scrolling shooter, of all things. Who'd expect anything like that from the current Square? But yeah, I don't get all these people whining about XIII being brought out on the Xbox as well. Who cares? The PS3 is the worst selling console out of the current generation of consoles I believe, proberly due to it being damn expensive, so it makes sense for SE to bring out the game on a better selling format as well, so more people can play the game and they make more profit. The PS3 still gets Versus XIII. 1.) I expect XIII to be a big flop, at least in terms of important story elements. It'll be hyped up, and people will flock to it, and it'll be "wow cool," but it won't have nearly the same sort of impact as FFVII or so. I'm sure the sales will be off the charts, but it won't be anything special. The whole "polymorphic content" gig is also incredibly lame. 2.) The Wii beats out the other two simply because it's freaking awesome. The biggest reason is because it costs so little, and the reason for that is because it's got pretty much the same horsepower in it as Nintendo's Gamecube does. As for the two in question (the 360 and the PS3), people saying that the latter is much more expensive is the result of not checking how much bang for the buck there is. The base 360 model, which costs $200, doesn't have a hard drive or a Blu-Ray player. Or a good DVD player, for that matter. Really, if you have a standalone DVD player and you compare that with the 360, you'll notice just how poorly it (the 360) handles DVDs.In order to even play any games on the base model, you'll have to purchase a hard drive specially made by Microsoft, which costs just around $100 (or more, if you want more space). And if you want an HD player, your only option is an HD-DVD player attachment, which sells for another $100 or $200, and which is also obsolete, now that HD-DVD is gone from the market. So you add in those two little itty bitty details, and you're already on par with (or exceeding) the PS3's base retail price of $400. Besides that, the 360 is notorious for constantly breaking down with hardware malfunctions and whatnot. Of the three consoles, the 360 has the highest hardware failure rate (or technical problems in general), and much if not all of it is all due to Microsoft cutting quality of parts in order to profit from the $200 price tag. Not to say that the problems weren't occurring before the price drop, of course. (EDIT: This might also be part of the reason why the 360 is ahead of the PS3 - though the PS3 began beating the 360 in sales as far back as early 2008 - the hardware failures have undoubtedly made some folks decide to just buy a new one altogether.) The PS3, on the other hand... well, blah. I just wanted to point out the serious flaws of the 360 that so many customers fail to research before making their purchase. That said, it's not going to stop sales of XIII at all, but it's still a point worth making. ...it must be hard to see that I dislike the 360.

As for the two in question (the 360 and the PS3), people saying that the latter is much more expensive is the result of not checking how much bang for the buck there is. Regardless of "bang for the buck," Kondy, expensive is still just that. Freakin' expensive. A lot of people don't have the kind of cash to shell out for a PS3, regardless of its horsepower and stuff. Not that I dislike any of the consoles, really. I mean, I don't have any of the nextgen consoles -- my family and I still play Mario Kart Double Dash on our Gamecube almost every night. Tbh, I'm not really looking forward to FFXIII. I don't know too much about it, but I found XII a let-down, and I found X-2 a let-down, and SE has REALLY not been impressing me lately. However, I feel like they did a very good job with The World Ends With You. It had that same "ohemgee friends are so important we have to redeem this loner character" overarching theme that we see so much, but it was a very good story. I liked that it was set in modern day Shibuya, and I actually found that there was not a single character I disliked. The art style was reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts but still very well done, and the combat system was actually fun -- especially the element of the psych pins and there being no random encounters. Now, TWEWY wasn't so different that it was really them stepping outside of their comfort zone, but I think it was SE taking a step in the right direction toward varying it up and being more innovative and stuff. I wish they would try that Creative And New And Different Hat on more often. And I will admit I have the sick, terrified feeling that they are going to f*** Kingdom Hearts up beyond all reason with endless "compilation" stuff, but I'm crossing my fingers hoping they won't. Because regardless of its flaws, I adore the Kingdom Hearts series.

The Wii beats out the other two simply because it's freaking awesome. No, the Wii beats the other two because of the amount of Yummy Mummies who think it will keep them fit, and for people who buy it as a party game. The Wii is a toy; a novelty item that loses it's appeal VERY quickly. Sure, it's funny to watch your girlfriend doing the hula hooping on Wii fit once, maybe twice, but after about 30 minutes of watching her do it, you'll be bored, and want to play a REAL game on it, which there are suprisingly few, and not a great selection of quality. Sure, you have Smash Bros and Legend of Zelda, but that's about it. And if you're going to play a regular game on it anyway, what's the point? Why play,Force Unleashed, for example, on Wii with it's rubbish graphics engine and ridiculous gameplay issues, when it looks beautiful and flows like a mofo on the superior consoles? And they are superior. I think they're totally worth the extra hundred $ you shill out, because with that you're getting a wider selection of quality games, more options, such as online play, and longer life. You will never EVER get tired of blowing Nazi Zombie brains all over a bunker wall with your mates. And you know that next year, it'll all be even better, and more beautiful still because the higher end consoles have something the Wii doesn't: Potential. The Wii is doomed to remain the same forever and ever, whereas with downloadable content every other week, and spare parts on the black market, the consoles will simply grow and grow into infinity. My PS3 is not only a gaming console, but a source of free internet, free international phonecalls, a programming base, runs Linux and some PC games. I have a Wii, but it's gathering dust ona shelf under my PS3. It's only use now is for watching afore mentioned gf do afore mentioned Hula Hoops... And I hate the 360 with a passion. Why is it called the X-box 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away... O.o Also, uh, on topic... uh... Well, I can't make it on topic... But the rant was worth the 5% I'll get added. XD

Regardless of "bang for the buck," Kondy, expensive is still just that. Freakin' expensive. A lot of people don't have the kind of cash to shell out for a PS3, regardless of its horsepower and stuff. Well, then, people should realize that a stripped-down Xbox 360 (which is what the $200 package more or less is) costs just as much as a PS3 once you get it to actually be able to play games (ie purchasing a hard drive for it). If you buy a game console, you expect to be able to play games on it right away. Having to purchase an additional piece of hardware just to be able to start gaming sort of defeats the purpose of the game console in the first place. 1.) I want to see them create a horror survival game again. Like Parasite Eve, but less RPG-y. Or another Bushido Blade. Imagine ancient samurai duels in high-def bamboo forests with leaves flying all over the place... THAT'd be epic. 2.) I'm not so much a fan of KH, but I've been willing thus far to play the first two games. After the second one convoluted everything, though, I feel less than inclined to be interested in the next game in the series. SE'll REALLY have to pull something off to get me to like it again. No, the Wii beats the other two because of the amount of Yummy Mummies who think it will keep them fit, and for people who buy it as a party game. Eh. I still play Wii Sports. It's not so much a "gaming console" as it is an "entertainment console" in that I play it more often with my friends and nephews/nieces (and my dad, which is so strange, since he NEVER WANTED to play video games before) than alone. It's a system that's meant to be played with others. Hence the whole you and your girlfriend bit. And the whole "Wii would like to play" bit. It seems pretty understandable, seeing as the whole concept behind it is communal playing - getting everybody to play and, more importantly, getting people to WANT to play. And if you're going to play a regular game on it anyway, what's the point? Why play,Force Unleashed, for example, on Wii with it's rubbish graphics engine and ridiculous gameplay issues, when it looks beautiful and flows like a mofo on the superior consoles? And they are superior. 1.) First of all, why play Force Unleashed? That game is garbage. Well, not garbage, but certainly underdeveloped. A load screen to take you from the pause menu to the lightsaber menu? Really? Unskippable cutscenes? Horrible targeting system? Which leads to shoddy combat? C'mon, at least point out a GOOD game... like... I dunno, Guitar Hero World Tour? (That's the first game I can think of off the top of my head that's on all three consoles.) 2.) The Wii was never meant to be like the "Other Two." It's not meant to be a graphical powerhouse. It's meant to be a game system for those who don't game... sorta kinda. 1.) I agree about the "wider selection, more options, and longer life," but only with the PS3. The 360 has proven that its mechanical devices simply don't last that long. :/ 2.) CoD:WaW was and is lame. I still firmly believe that Treyarch doesn't deserve to create Call of Duties. They don't even create CoDs. All they do is... I dunno, give it a second go or something. Activision should've just stuck with Infinity Ward. 3.) The Wii has, much like the PS3, limitless possibilities. The only thing that's limiting it is that people aren't being innovative enough with the motion sensing. That said, it might also have to do with the Wii's lack of hardware strength. And I hate the 360 with a passion. Why is it called the X-box 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away... O.o No, it's because when turn it on, you see a full circle of red. (Yes, I made a geeky joke. Sue me.) But I see we agree on one thing. Cheers to you.

I agree about the Call of duty thing too. Call of Duty when made by Infinity ward, like 6 will be, are epic. But it's simply Nazi Zombie mode that does it for me in WaW. I never ever tire of standing in the corner of a room with a double barelled shotgun, screaming "BEGONE!"
Where do Square Enix come into this, I hear you ask?
A GOOD QUESTION!!!
Sony (apparently) owns ridiculous shares in them now, research has told me, and it was SONY'S DECISION to give the X-Box FF13, but NOT FF13 Versus.
The genius of Sony... using SE as a puppet.
Still, I agree with the posts above about Square's past being better than it's present. I did love the first Valkyrie Chronicles.

For me it was a lack of likable characters, lazy gameplay (The Gambit system), and the license system. I didn't think the game was BAD per say, but it simply didn't live up to the hype created for it. I ran straight from school to buy it, and I was kinda disappointed.
LOVED Balthier though. He's the only reason I played through it, to be honest.

But yeah, I don't get all these people whining about XIII being brought out on the Xbox as well. Who cares? Ditto that. There are more important things going on in the world. Price and bad marketing. Seriously I've been way turned off from the PS 3 from the begining. If it weren't for the fact that Blu-Ray beat out HDDVD and that VersusXIII is still exclusive I don't think I'd get it.

Having to purchase an additional piece of hardware just to be able to start gaming sort of defeats the purpose of the game console in the first place. Ah, but having to buy an additional piece of hardware to save games on is not a new thing. Think PS1 & 2 etc. The core 360 is being sold for £129 over here I think, and with places like ebay and amazon selling dirt cheap memory cards, it actually works out at a lot cheaper than buying one with a hard drive. I'll not comment on the Wii, i'll just say that I share the same feelings as Pirates Price and bad marketing. Seriously I've been way turned off from the PS 3 from the begining. If it weren't for the fact that Blu-Ray beat out HDDVD and that VersusXIII is still exclusive I don't think I'd get it. This. The only reason I have a 360 is because it was a gift to my dad from his work, and I rarely use it. There are no real next-gen games that have attracted me, and my PS2 and PSP serve me fine. However, with my PS2 slowly dying and Blue Ray and VersusXIII looking attractive, the PS3 is starting to look a good option. Although it has no backwards compatibility does it? which for me defeats the object of buying one I have a feeling XIII is going to be a flop. I didn't really like XII and that was hyped beyond belief, so I have a feeling XIII is going to go the same way.

Already out that I own Mario Kart Smash Bros Brawl Zelda TP Metroid Prime 3 (so there's your first person shooter) Far Cry (which is vsatly improved over its PC counterpart) Mario Galaxy (duh) Fire Emblem Radient Dawn Super Paper Mario No More Heroes Mega Man 9 which has DLC if you want. Plus perfect backwards compatability with gamecube. Yeah, that doesn't sound like something without lasting apeal, especially with Madworld, Punch Out and NMH2 on the way. The Wii also has full internet capabilities if you didn't know. And forced unleashed fails on any console, not just the Wii.
