They've a good point, Ronin. How well a writer incorporates the characters and universes of two different fandoms depends on the writer, not a generalization. A blanket statement fails to account for the varying talents of each person; no one is the same.
Also, PAS, "The Best Defense" was good. Have you read its sequel, "A Good Offense?"

Also, PAS, "The Best Defense" was good. Have you read its sequel, "A Good Offense?" Actually, when I read The Best Defense a LONNNNNNG time ago, (probably eighth grade or so), it got to the parts where it was looking yaoi-ish between Kurama and Hiei, and I just stopped reading. That's shallow, but I was only in eighth grade. It wasn't that I had anything against man-love, it was that I had a passionate hate for that pairing because I was just so convinced that Hiei would NEVER EVER EVER be gay. /shameless, drooling Hiei fangirl, which you know because you used to read all my YYH fics. Even though, I never finished it, I put it on my list because the authoress took SO MUCH time to write it, with so much exacting, enthralling detail. I remember the part where Genkai starts figuring out which students have latent spirit energy, and I found it amazingly well-written and completely fascinating. She's just great at what she does.

Who would have figured this thread would make a comeback?Still, when it comes down to it, preference seems to be the big deciding factor for cross-overs IMO. I wouldn't know really since I've yet to attempt at writing one.

Ditto for long time ago, but I stuck with it and scrolled through the odd bits. The pairing practically goes unmentioned in the sequel (until lately, but it's more like severe concern).
And yes, I think she researches it all or something, because the way she described Bill breaking the Jagan curse on Hiei was pure magic (<--ooh, pun). Runes and symbols, methods and rituals. It's pretty sweet.
But back to blankets! :D

I am writing a FFVII/FFX/FFVIII,
I find the characters from FFVIII are hard to write, probably cause I don't know their character all that well but I wanted to add Squall and Rinoa to my story..

An idea, blackmomba, Squall and Rinoa do add something more to stories. But if the characters are hard to write, I suggest that you stick to ones you are comfortable with, because characters that are forced out, just because it seemed nicer to put them in, just make the story seem choppy and weird.
I support FF7xFF8 crossover, but I'm not extremely well-versed in 8, so I tend to stick with pairing stories as opposed to gen-fics, which deal more in the mechanics of the game (which I'm not to clear about). Squiffie has recently reached my pairing hall of fame ever since I read "Silk and Hot Metal" by our dear Pen. She's a genius.

Well, personally, I don't think people should attempt to write fan fiction solely for the cause of throwing characters in the story that they aren't well versed with. I can barely handle myself when someone tells me that something in particular (for example, Tseng slapping Aeris/th in the game) isn't right, and then preaches on abut learning all of their information from fan fictions, parhaps watching someone play the game for an hour, and wikipedia. But the idea of using characters that you don't know just because you want them to be there, for whatever reason, seems bizarre and irksome. So, my suggestion to you is to play the game again. Or, you can cut them out. There's nothing worse than to read a story with OOC characters than not having the character at all. And Costa... I need to send you some of that lovely Bible-fiction of mine. It was Uriel and Michael doing some rather interesting things. Those kinky angels. Granted, it's not too far off from their personalities. Both are rather huffy and rather destructive. If there is a god, he'll strike me dead for abusing his angels... until then-- bottoms up!

Oh God, I remember back when I went to Sunday School as a kid...I always wanted Jesus/Judas fic. Not even like, slashy, just romantic.
I was a weird, weird child. >.>
Anyway, crossovers.... I've recently been considering a few, but I just don't plan things out well enough in advance to make a good one. After all of this hectic-ness of the holiday season and all of my rewrites and finishing my open fics....Then I think I will sit down with Cally and we'll plot one out.

There's a ton of KH/FF7 crossovers that involve CloTi, but honestly, the pairing mostly bores me so I haven't read a lot of them. The unfortunate thing about crossovers is that you have to dig for them - some people will put them in one category, some in the other, and some in the "crossovers" category. And once you've found them, there's not even any real assurance it'll be good. Then again, if you just want a good CloTi, I will once again recommend NRGburst's "Full Circle," which is really good and could be canon. (It can be found here: www.fanfiction.net/s/3798564/1/Full_Circle)

Thank you.....I'll freshen up on the characters of Rinoa and Squall. I know their personalities but its still a pain...anyways my story is called Dream World if you want to see how their characters are coming out.....don't hesitate to tell me if something is off.

If you won't mind, would you link your profile? Because, really, searching for an hour for a story named "Dream World" and actually getting the right one is about... 1/100 chance.
Thank you.
