Pen-name: Strange and Intoxicating -rsa- (or Rsaioxkreual (SaI)) Why do you want to judge?: I want to judge because I've seen that, while being a daunting task, being a judge for this awards is an honor. I love to read stories and I also enjoy seeing the best of stories being presented to the public. I want others to enjoy reading and writing fan fictions that are of top quality. I also have to time to be a judge, and when I start something I become attached and will not stop until it is completed. I think that is what a good judge needs-- dedication. Skills: While I'm terrible at reading through my own work and finding errors, I have no problem going through others and noticing them. I'm also well-versed in the Final Fantasy VII realm, and either have played or have studied it. Along with that, I can see plot-holes and out-of-character action while reading. In addition, I have a good grasp on sentence structure. Most familiar genre(s): I will read just about everything. I can read humor, romance, angst, drama, adventure-- sit me down with something I can sink my teeth into and I will be golden. I will, however, admit that I don't tend to enjoy hetro pairings, unless they are in the background of an otherwise general fiction or coupled with yaoi/yuri. I'm good with those two especially, and I have noticed that I am better at critiquing them. I can, however, do het if asked to. The one thing I must say that I'm terrible at reading, however, is anything poetry-based. Optional: Have you beta-read before? If so, which fic?: I have betaed two stories and have critiqued many others. If you wish for the links to my critiques, feel free to ask for them. Here are the two story links that I betaed for. www.fanfiction.net/s/4078740/1/Praying_for_Love_and_Counting_My_Sins While it isn't perfect, it's much better than the first draft. www.fanfiction.net/s/4324345/1/Euphoria My younger sister's Aeris/Cloud story.

Pen-name: MengdeWhy do you want to judge?I like these awards and I'd like to contribute, writing being possibly my only useful area of expertise. I'm taking a heavy load next semester, but I can always make time for reading, and it'll be good practice for me to critique others' work (Creative Writing major and all). Skills: (e.g. technical errors, characterisation, plot holes etc)As Tycho Brahe of Penny Arcade says of himself, I don't think it's an overestimation to say that I have what amounts to a judo grip on the English language. I admit that I may tend to have a bit of a problem with commas in my own writing, but when critiquing, orthographically and grammatically I am keen-eyed and I know my stuff. I also have extensive knowledge of all kinds of literary devices, ranging from broad stuff like symbolism and metaphor down to passage-specific technical details like juxtaposition. As for the examples above, I don't blush at saying that I characterize well and I pick out plot holes fairly easily. Most familiar genre(s): (e.g. humour, angst, drama etc)I've read at least a little bit of everything, and in the cases of some genres a lot more than just a little bit. I know how good examples of any given genre work and what the marks of sophistication in those settings are. Since this is fan fiction and pairings are a central theme, I prefer heterosexual pairings to homosexual but can read either if asked for an opinion. Optional: Have you beta-read before? If so, which fic? (please link)I serve as Pen Against Sword's beta. In that capacity, I've beta-read (among other things) The Need To Know (which is not technically FFVII, but it does involve Yuffie), Guilt By Association, I See London, I See France, and the award-winning A Fine Line.

Pen-name: Pen Against Sword Why do you want to judge?I would like to be a judge because I think it would be a challenging and fun experience. I would love to help judge fics and be a part of the process of deciding which ones make it to the shortlists and which ones ultimately win, etc. Reading has always been one of my favorite pass-times, and I eat up fanfiction like candy. I feel it would be a great honor to help decide which fanfictions receive recognition for being the best of the best. Skills: (e.g. technical errors, characterisation, plot holes etc)I like to think that I am a whiz at characterization. Character development and characterization are two of my absolute favorite things in reading and writing. I have a very firm grasp of the English language--punctuation, syntax, usage. You name it, and nine times out of ten, I know how it works. I am knowledgeable in the elements of structure, plot elements, and what makes a good story as well. Another one of my specialties is dialogue, like knowing what is good dialogue and what is not. Most familiar genre(s): (e.g. humour, angst, drama etc)I am familiar with most genres, to tell the truth. I will normally read fics in any genre, as long as they are well-written. From this, I have taken away what makes a fic of each particular genre good or bad. But to name some genres that I am most familiar with, I would have to say the ones I write in the most are Romance, Humor, Angst, and Adventure, so naturally, those are the ones I am most familiar with. Optional: Have you beta-read before? If so, which fic? (please link) I am a beta-reader for Mengde and for La Editor, both of whom are members of this forum. I only just became La Editor's beta reader, so the only fiction of hers that I have beta'd is Roots. As for Mengde, I have beta'd The Red Cloak, Black and White, and In Memoriam.

Pen-name: T. CostaWhy do you want to judge? I enjoy these awards and I would hate to see anything crumble because there wasn't a big enough pool of judges and everyone got stressed out trying to judge fics. I also realized that I was worried about being too busy, and I only work about two weeks out of a month because I'm a member of a hiring hall union. I figured that at the very least, I could step up if someone else finds themselves with too full a plate. I enjoy reading, anything and everything, and I mentally edit and critique as I'm going along anyway, so I figured this would be a good way to put those skills to use. Skills: I'm a fairly good all-around beta-reader; I can catch most plot holes and am particularly good at editing both mine and other's works for grammar, spelling and length. In the past I've beta-read for a variety of people; now I stick to La Editor and a few close friends. I have taken a look at Sai's work before and given her an example of how I beta-read. I have professional experience in the world of editing, in the news field, and I feel it's helped me immensely. If I am not considered up to snuff for judging, I can also help with a myriad of other things - graphic design, web design, etc. Generally, I want to help the Genesis Awards out in the best way I can; whichever skills you need, I can execute. Most familiar genre(s): I've read it all and written it all. I feel I am particularly familiar with romance/erotica and drama. I prefer not to read angst, although if it's well-done I will. I can and do read both het, yaoi and yuri. Optional: Have you beta-read before? If so, which fic? Most of La Editor's Final Fantasy fanfics, I have beta-read, including a few that aren't up yet. I honestly can't find any of the other fics I've beta-read in the past, so I'll just stick with that. Because I do not review as often as I should, I would like my skills to be tested using the test fic, please.

Pen-name: Fearandloathing, or on ff.net cultivateyourhunger Why do you want to judge? Because I would genuinely hate to see people struggling with too much fic to judge and want to help any way I can, this being one of the most obvious ways. I also think judging would be a good experience for me, and although I mentioned elsewhere I thought I might be a bit new to go for judging, I am now thinking 'why not? I'd enjoy it and the worst that could happen is I don't qualify.' Skills: Above me Tasha mentioned editing and criticizing things as she read them, which stuck a chord with me because I realize I do it as well, reading fanfic I basically beta it as I read, and I suppose that counts as a useful skill to have as a judge. Although I haven't been writing for as long as some members (about a year and a half) I've written quite a lot for various fandoms in that time and have 40+ stories posted on my ff.net account currently, with some extras lurking around LJ and burning in my recycling bin. This also means I've done almost everything that is possible to do wrong in a story at one point or another, and with that perspective I like to think I'm good at spotting cliché’s, over-used phrases and words, ooc-ness and other literary slip-ups, as I know them all too well. As Tasha also said, if I'm not up to snuff, I'm really looking simply to help, and if I don't qualify then would give whatever remaining skills I have to anything else GA needs doing. Most familiar genre(s): I've read most things, though in fanfiction I tend towards angst more than tragedy, and romance/friendship/family more than horror or supernatural, however that said outside of fanfiction I have read all sorts, so I am familiar with the genres anyway. My most 'familiar' genres are romance, erotica, drama and angst. Type-wise I am a huge believer in the poignancy of drabbles, and have preferences for songfic that can tip something from love it to hate in a matter of sentences. I can and will read all forms of pairings, and don't have any problems with abuse-heavy or rape fic. Optional: I have beta'ed a few of leaf's fic before, and chapters one and four of this: www.fanfiction.net/s/4134976/1/50_Shortstories_prompt_KyouxHaru, though to my chagrin the writer changed back quite a lot of the edits I made, and perhaps because my method of beta-ing was quite intense (if you want I can provide what the fic was like before I went at it) or maybe just because she changed her style, after chapter 4 we didn't stay in DocX contact. Like Tasha before me (who with her wonderful modesty gave me the courage to at least apply) I would like to be tested please. Thanks to everyone regardless of what becomes of me, and I hope we get some more applicants. Come on people! GA needs you!

Why do you want to judge? Because I think I would be good at it; and because I love reading.
Skills: I am a good all-around editor. I will catch technical errors, but I also have many years' writing and reading experience and have an excellent grasp of the elements of storytelling. I have most of a university degree in Engligh, with a focus on literature and teaching writing. This means I have been through classes on the right (and wrong) ways to offer constructive criticism, and also on how to deconstruct story and theme and characterization for their basic parts.
I have played FFVII and Dirge of Cerberus (and seen Advent Children, of course,) so I have good familiarity with the story and characters.
Most familiar genre(s): I read them all, although I think my skills as an editor would probably best apply to the more serious works. Drama, action, that sort of thing. I am a Vincent fanatic, so obviously I do angst as well.
Optional: Have you beta-read before? No. But I have done editing work in the past, in a semi-professional capacity.

Why do you want to judge?
I'm no different from anyone else. I want to judge simply for the pleasure of enjoying the read and making the best of the opportunity. Writing is, I believe, a constant learning process. I want to become a Judge so that I can help others with their flaws, and learn from them in return.
...And, of course, to read some great material. :D
Skills (e.g. technical errors, characterization, plot holes etc.):
I'd say I'm adept at catching spelling and technical errors; I do well with grammar, punctuation, capitalization; and I'm a beast when it comes to sentence structure and improper word use. I'd like to think I have a firm grip on characterization as well. What's more, I'm not shy about my confidence with Latin (phrases, idioms, etc.).
Most familiar genre(s) (e.g. humour, angst, drama etc.):
I try not to limit myself when it comes to genres, because there really is so much out there to enjoy. I am, however, most familiar with comedies, dramas, and adventure fics. I dabble frequently in romances, and absolutely love poetry.
Optional: Have you beta-read before? If so, which fic? (please link)
I'm sad to say I have not, but I think the test fic. could prove my worth. :D

Pen-name: NRGburst Why do you want to judge? I'm quite an active member in this forum and I'd like to help out. After doing some timely critical assessments as Preliminary Reader, I think I'd be good at judging as well. Skills: I'm good with characterization and technical things like spelling, punctuation and grammar. My knowledge of all parts of the FF7 canon is also excellent. Most familiar genre(s): I write romance, humour and drama, and have recently dabbled in tragedy. I tend to read het, but yaoi or yuri don't faze me. I do have troubles reading longer fics unless they are printed on paper (which I would do as a judge). I also stay away from Crossovers and AU fics in general. I often don't know much about other fandoms that are used in Crossovers and I dislike unexplained deviations from canon. However, I am PR-ing AU fics now, and I think I've been fair and objective in my assessments. Optional: Have you beta-read before? No, but I read and review often with concrit. A few examples: For ReGeneration, an original fiction work by my beta Jenny Rocker: www.fictionpress.com/r/2464375/1/1/For Overformality by Reading Chick: www.fanfiction.net/r/4364857/For The Silence of the Chocobos by Amarissia: www.fanfiction.net/r/3892767/6/1/In the Get feedback and promote your fanfics thread: genesisawards.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=fanfiction&action=display&thread=210&page=9

Pen-name: Moira/Moiranne Rose in fanfiction Why do you want to judge?Because, there are fics out there, that are fantastic, and in Genesis Awards, you guys pick them out. The fact that you guys are willing to go to amazing lengths to find them, that's enough to motivate me to do my bit. And also, being a writer myself, I've been in constant touch with what makes a good fic. While I can't tell you that mine are 'good' by my standards, I can definitely tell if it were someone else's fic. Skills: (e.g. technical errors, characterisation, plot holes etc)Considering my background of writing in my school, I can pick out many loopholes and character flaws in others' writings. In FF.net, I'm constantly beta-ing for two writers and the most important thing I look for is the closeness to the character and whether the story fills up every gap and hole that could have possibly been made, and accounted for everyone. I truly dislike it when people leave characters behind and simply forge blindly ahead. Every character must be there for a reason. Most familiar genre(s): (e.g. humour, angst, drama etc)For me, probably friendship/angst/hurt and comfort are my strongest genres. I'm able to cope with most genres though, and as long as I find myself connected to the piece, whether because it's engaging or if it's suspenseful, you can be sure I'll be completely focused on finding the flaws and critiquing them. Optional: Have you beta-read before? If so, which fic? (please link) I've beta-read for one FF7 story (WIP) and one for His Dark Materials. Though I'm sure you're only interested in the one for FF7. So the link is www.fanfiction.net/s/4455905/1/Final_Fantasy_VII_Resurrections. Thanks for reading this. That in itself makes me honored to be here.

Why do you want to judge? Honestly, before Pied suggested I try, I didn't consider applying. However, I do want to work on my editing skills and sticking to projects, and I think this will help. I also really admire these awards, and I like to think that as a judge I would be able to help contribute a little more.
Skills: I'm not overly amazing at anything, but by no means am I terrible. I have a good grasp on grammar and spelling, and I'm well-versed in the FFVII universe. I'm fairly good at discerning how characters should or shouldn't be acting, and I can pick out plot-holes and inconsistencies. I'm young, but I've been writing fanfiction for five years - I started at the bottom of the bottom in the fanfiction world, so I've committed a lot of errors that have helped me grow, and now I can spot them for what they are; cliches, incorrect phrases, or odd things like misconstrued symbolism. I've hit a lot of them, so I like to think that I've grown from experience.
Most familiar genre(s): I read just about anything, honestly. The only thing I don't like touching is... westerns. I'm open to just about anything else, including the lesser known types of stories, such as spiritual or crime. I'm generally very comfortable with drabbles, miscellaneous genres, and angst. Romance, being a very large part of fanfiction, is fine with me, though I will say I prefer heterosexual to yaoi or yuri. However, I do not read M rated fanfiction.
Optional: Have you beta-read before? If so, which fic? (please link)
I have beta-read before, but only for certain stories and not as an ongoing editor. I'm going to go ahead and ask for the test fic.

Why do you want to judge? I love fanfiction of the ff7 variety and I think I have the skills to determine what's written well.
Skills: I admit to being somewhat of a grammar nazi in fanfiction. I used to have terrible grammar myself and since cleaning up my style, I can pinpoint mistakes quite well. I also can recognize if a fic has a pleasant flow, or if it sounds rushed. Lemons also give me no difficulty, as I can tell what is reasonable, plausible, or realistic in the situation.
Most familiar genre(s): I'll read just about anything save for yaoi/yuri, or lemons involving more than two people. Fluffy and cute romance is always pleasant for me to read. Supernatural or fantasy fics give me no trouble.
Optional: Have you beta-read before? If so, which fic? (please link) I have beta-read, but the authoress in question did not take my advice when I suggested ways to clean up her sentence structure. I do give concrit, so if you feel a test fic is needed, I'll be more than happy to take a look.
