How did I get into 'fic? It has been a while, I must admit.
One of my middle school friends, back in '95, I think, wrote a story about Jurassic Park, so, for fun, I did one for the heck of it. (For the record, I cannot stand Jurassic Park.) It was a James Bond-ish piece involving cloning, conspiracies, and a fistfight in a mall bathroom. Very much a B-movie piece. At the time, though, I had no idea that the word for it was 'fanfic'.
I first into fanfic as fanfic when I was looking for -- surprise -- FF7 artwork after beating the PC version of the game in late '98. After that, my high school sweetheart got me into the Sailor Moon anime, and the first real fanfic I ever wrote was for that. Since then, I have been wandering from one fan community to another, and, somehow, I have wound up back where I started: FF7.

I got into it about 2 years ago. It actually started with a fan-made video on YouTube for a song. (The song is Your Guardian Angel by The Red jumpsuit Apparatus.) The person who made the vid used clips from AC, and it got me curious: what movie are these clips from? who are the poeple? what is their story? So I hunted down the movie, found out what it was and what is was about, and started researching FF7. Then one day I was running around Google and ran into a fanfic about FF7 on fanfiction.net. I read it, and started to read more fics, and soon I was absolutely addicted to the canon. After that, I began to wander the site and started to run into fandoms for other canons I liked.

How'd I get into fanfic? Hmm...
Reading-wise, it must have been with my sister's incessant fangirling over some pairing for Tsubasa. I think it was KuroFai, but I can't be sure.
Writing-wise: It was with HDM and I was naturally curious as to what I could do with the fandom. So I slapped the hero and the heroine together for another adventure with random OCs and interjections of humour.
Tis all.

Psh - blame is HARDLY the right word. How about: "I thank Clan"? or: "I love Clan"? Because deep down - you know you do.
