I have to agree with MR above me.
Unless the voice actors we get are exceptionally talented, I suggest staying witch each Turk on their own death. The listener after-all must be taught who's voice relates to who. But I understand your point in the creativity of it, La.
Maybe we should ask the authors take on how they'd want the piece done? If stories are up in the air still - I think it would be an excellent measure of a final decision.

The Tea Party: narrator - Vulcan, I fully vote that you do this one if you'd be willing. I just imagine you speaking it and it's scarily perfect. Um... thanks? I've never seen this one, so I don't even know what to think about the fact that you imagine it being read in my voice. *is curious, goes to have a look*

I could narrate things, I suppose.

I'd love to try out voice acting; I can kinda do a Tifa-ish voice...

I see what you guys mean, Moira and Ra-ra. (Eek, I was sleep-deprived, leavemelone XD). So I'm guessing everyone is alright with White Carnations being narrated by the Turks (on their own deaths)? I posted that huge list of the stories and who I personally prefer for narration in hopes someone would follow my example and state their preferences for every story, but I haven't heard any complaints of what I have so far. It's great ya'll are ready to jump in - I'm going to assume that unless you post that you don't want to help, you're willing to do/record something, so we don't clutter the board with volunteer-posts. XD On recording (sorry I didn't say this earlier, guys!), here is a good place to start. Audacity is a very good program, is free, and allows you to record and manipulate audio tracks as well as convert them to mp3. (I teach you this now because I learned it, like, five minutes ago: WAV takes a helluva lot of space compared to mp3, and if your computer has tons of space that's great, mine doesn't, please don't use WAV if you send anything to me. xP) All you really need is a mic - the tutorial takes you through how to use everything really well. Unfortunately, microphones are the kind of technology where if it is crummy, everything it produces turns out kind of crummy, too. I used my sister's old computer mic and even though I tried a multitude of techniques to clean lines, it was still very tinny and sounded pretty bad until my dad found a really good one in the garage. (That could probably have been my terrible handle on technology, though, you might be able to work wonders with cheapo mics, this is just my experience.) If you plan on doing this as well as the GA podcast, I recommend investing in a good mic. (Or you could do what Ra-ra said below. I had no idea, I am n00b. Eheh.) Also, I've received permission for... Butterfly Effect, Look My Way, The Tea Party, and Rendezvous. I contacted all the authors this afternoon, so hopefully we'll get all the stories cleared for take-off within a week.

For those that have rockband (XBOX)- the mic can work for recording - if you need assistance, please ask and I'll let you know. And la is correct, audacity is a very basic program that's simple to use and moves efficiently. For mac users (like myself) there is always garageband. Perhaps a new thread should be made for volunteering voices? It seems to be clogging this thread of actual ideas for how to maneuver this project. I still love you guys though.

Yes. And I believe the Xbox headset can record as well if you use it with a computer. I could be wrong. If you have Karaoke Revolution for the PS2, the USB mics can work on a computer as well.
Also, if you happen to have a bluetooth earpiece and a bluetooth compatible computer, I believe those work as well. I'm going to test the quality on my new earbud sometime this week, in comparison with my old studio headset and my husband's xbox live headset. Shall I fill ya'll in on the results of my test?
(Also, if any of you happen to have a Macbook, it comes with a mic built-in near the iSight, useful to know if you use Skype.)

I'll need to rig me up a working mic (or break down and buy one), but I'd love to volunteer to narrate one.

So, I just got off the phone with my dad - recall that he's an audio engineer by trade. He says that in our scenario - where people will be sitting in front of their computers in a non-soundproofed room with questionable acoustics - your best bet is to invest in a decent headset mic set. His recommendation is to get a dual-headset with two earpads, so you can hear specifically what you're doing and not what's going on around you, with a boom mic that swings in either direction, so that you can be as comfortable as possible. He also said that a wind guard is a good thing to have (that's the foam cover) just to censor out hisses, pops, and anything else that might go on, including a sudden draft. He says that you can find them in most stores for less than thirty dollars - I, naturally, am going to be using the studio-quality one that he gave me, but I think that for most people less than thirty dollars is a decent investment. Those who CANNOT get one, of course, don't need to, but if you want to continue on with something of this sort, it seems like a good investment.

Excellent idea, La. It reminds me faintly of Yaccy's idea to make a trailer for nominated fics (what ever happened to that, anyway? :p).
I've no qualms with your suggestions for narrators--I trust your judgment and expertise with voice-acting enough to sit back contentedly. :3
About finding a mic...that might be a bit difficult, because last time I checked, I threw away the only mic I ever had a few years ago. >.> Normally, I'd just record with my digital camera and then convert it to an audio, but...well, I dropped it and it broke. D:
I'll either have to find a mic, or attempt to steal my dad's laptop when he isn't paying attention... >.>;;
That aside, I support this project fully. :D

And if you're cheap, like a huge percentage of the population, be sure to at least use a construct of something heavy - like cardboard around the mic. T.Costa is correct, it makes a huge difference in the quality of the recording. So it should be a MUST - even if you are on a rockband mic... THE VOLUNTEER POST FOR VOICE AUDITIONS

Oh that's a great idea!! I'd love to dub [edit: I'd try dubbing anyone, I guess], but I don't have a mic and a German accent, I'm really looking forward to the outcome, though!

Stoffi - if you can read English well, and maybe borrow a mic, maybe you could audition to narrate? I think German accents are so pleasant to listen to!
When I don't pay attention to what I'm doing, I have a southern accent that slips in. I grew up in Texas, it happens. XD

My mic died, but I have a chance to do my Tifa impression for a WHOLE ENTIRE FIC (OMG!!) so I guess I'll just buy another one. Or... Normally, I'd just record with my digital camera and then convert it to an audio, but...well, I dropped it and it broke. D:
I have a digital camera! How do you convert video to audio? I tried to learn, but I couldn't find a tutorial that was, um, clear enough.
