Tseng, noticing Rufus stiffen at the sight of the entertainment ShinRa had kindly donated to the evening's festivities, placed a firm hand on his superior's shoulder.
"Perhaps you'd like another whiskey Sir?" he offered, distracting the former President from Genesis' juggling for at least long enough to elicit a stiff nod.
Calling to Tifa, he ordered a whiskey for Rufus and a glass of red wine for himself. For his part it seemed it was time was to slow down a little, after all he wasn't used to drinking and whiskey tended to dull his mind and unsteady his legs.
"Thank you Tifa" he nodded in appreciation, taking care to scan the room to locate the nearest fire extinguisher.

"Marlene huni, here you go!"
Elena smiled as the little six-year-old took her small, rectangular gift and shortly abolished the wrapping, revealing a small white box. Inside was an ornate silver "M" pendant on a chain, with small chips of multi-coloured Materia decorating the letter.
"Thank you Elena!"
The girl smiled up at her and ran off to show Tifa her latest gift. The chain had cost a nice amount, but Shinra paid well and the blonde had little all else to be spending her gil on, besides Marlene liked it. Smiling and half-blushing as Marlene decided to show Cloud her latest gift, Elena downed the rest of her G&T; Tifa immediately repleneshing it with a new, full glass, which Elena proceeded to keep on the oppposite side of her to Rufus, though he seemed tamer since Tseng had arrived.

Rude coughed slightly, placing the present in Marlene's hands. The girl ripped it apart like a chocobo going after Gyshal Greens. He wasn't to worried about it being a good gift, unlike his partner and Tseng he actually picked it out.
The brunette girl pulled out a jacket. It was white with several horses galloping around on it in various colors. Rude had thought she'd like it when he'd been hunting around for popsicles. Reno had odd cravings sometimes. Rude quickly downed another drink while waiting Marlene's response.

Reno recognised the jacket immediately. He'd seen it when Rude didn't (he only -said- he forgot) buy his popsicles. I mean, a guy had to have his weaknesses. Popsicles were better than...women like Rude, or guns like Tseng. God, he could still remember when Tseng-
"You want another of those?" Tifa asked.
"Why not, Teef?"
Tifa moved to get him one, smoldering a bit inside. She disliked being called that. Right as she finished shaking it, Reno immediately changed his order.
"Wait. Actually I'll have a Little...Dinghy?" Reno stared at the menu for some time. "Yeah, yeah, I'll have one of those. A bit more pineapple yeah?"
Tifa seethed and made him another cocktail. She furiously shoved the finished Clockwork Tangerine to the closest person, namely, Tseng. Reno grinned winningly as he turned back to musing. Otherwise known as staring at any girl in the room and making queer jokes with his otherwise silent partner.

Tseng was just sipping the last of his wine as a strange orange drink was thrust in his direction. It was rather attractively prepared - with a two straws and a slice of orange on the side. Tseng wasn't exactly sure of the purpose of the second straw. Was it for sharing? Or perhaps two channels helped to spread the drink around the mouth, improving the flavour. Glancing around the room, he decided to assume the latter. He didn't much warm to the idea of sharing a drink with Rufus or Reno and the way Reeve had been protecting his ale earlier perhaps it was wise to keep his to himself as well.
Tseng took the glass cautiously between his fingers, examining his contents. It looked... fruity. That was good. He'd been meaning to give the alcohol a rest for a bit. He'd already had far more than he was accustomed to and he did have work in the morning. Something light and refreshing might be just what was in order. With a smile he straightened the bent straw (Tifa must have forgotten to stretch that one), placed one straw at each side of his mouth to maximise the flavour, and began to drink...

Cait saw the death glare on Reeves face, realising that his "cute face" won't work on his creator, and decided to give in. "You know what Reeve? I'll do it now, I have to do something else anyway."
With that he drained the rest of his cocktail in one swig, and made his way to the door lurching. "Woah, this cocktail was stroong" he thought "Maybe you're just too small for drinks this size!" stated a little voice inside his head. "Oh shut up" he mumbled to himself. "Ruuude, pllease watch out for my crown, willl you?" Cait Sith slurred.
He arrived at the ShinRa building and went straight to Reno's office to transfer the paperwork. On his way back, he passed Yuffie's office and considered playing a trick on the ninja. The cat sneaked into the room, took all of her materia and hid it all over the building. "That should keep her from saddling others with her work, ha!"
"Allright! Now, I need to find a proper present for little Marlene." he thought. Cait found a bakery where they sold cakes as well. The cake he chose was covered in pink icing, decorated with small marzipan roses and looked incredibly sweet.
Cait Sith opened the door to Tifa's bar; the atmosphere inside wasn't exactly bad, but a bit lame. He placed the cake on the "birthday present table" and ordered another drink, since the effect of his last cocktail faded "Sex on the beach, please, Tifa???". After Tifa handed him the cocktail, he turned towards Reno.
"Hey, Reno, what do you think about a little drinking game to loosen the mood in here??" Cait questioned excited.

Reeve groaned. A drinking contest was never a good idea in his opinion. He'd been to college and was even in a fraternity. He knew what happened when drinking games took place. Especially with Reno involved.
It was time to go back to the wine. The alcohol wasn't as strong so maybe embarrassing things wouldn't be revealed in the adult (drinking) game. Like when he was caught dancing in his office to techno-electronica. Good grief, he had to bribe Yuffie with a week's vacation in Costa del Sol so she'd stay quiet.
"Tifa, another merlot please."

When Marlene was distracted by the others, Genesis just shrugged and caught the balls, putting them away. He seriously wanted to throw fira at them all and just forget the gil he was being paid. It was times like these he missed his old friend, though the only thing he could do would be to get another drink.
He heard Reno suggest a drinking contest, although he doubted he was even noticed as there he thought it would help, besides, he could hold his liquor. "May I have a rum Miss Lockheart?" He ordered politely, waiting for her to quickly make his drink. As he got it, he downed about half of it.

"Drinking contest? Ha! I'm in! I'll drink every one of you under the table!" Yuffie grinned and downed another cocktail. She saw Reeve switching back to wine and her smile took on a decidely sneaky tone.
"Reeve'll do it too. He loves drinking games. Don'tcha boss?" She gave him a playful swipe on the arm and giggled. She'd never actually seen him drunk before; she'd passed out at the Christmas Party last year before he'd got past 'mildly tipsy'.

Rude eyed the group (volunteered or forced) who were going to participate in the drinking contest. If they actually had one, it probably wasn't a good idea to get extremely drunk at a child's birthday party.
Choosing to ignore his thoughts, Rude merely went back to his newest drink. Marlene had certainly seemed to like his present.

Damn it. It was just like his old fraternity days in college. Well, he'd just have to unleash his inner frat boy and show everyone that he could hold his own. Shrugging off his long coat, he quickly downed the rest of his merlot and requested the strong stuff.
"Tifa, get me a Blackjack Beerback." He unbuttoned the top three buttons of his shirt. "Yuffie, you owe me for this."

Yuffie narrowed her eyes and slammed a hand down on the bar.
"I'll give you two lollies and the top button off my shorts. Tifa, Sambuca. Straight. I'm gonna show you old man."

"Haven't you heard that older men are more experienced, Yuffie?" He slammed his now empty mug on the bar. "Show me yours and I'll show you mine. Tifa, a refill please."
Reeve smirked. All that was missing was the loud music, dancing girls, and his gameboy. He missed his gameboy.

"Ha, I'm not gonna lose to a pencil-pusher like you." Her shot glass nearly cracked as she slammed it down next to his mug. "Another one Teef. My pride's at stake here."
She hadn't expected Reeve to be quite so confident; maybe this would be harder than she thought. She kind of noticed people watching, but they were fuzzy, and kind of wibbly round the edges. Huh.

Reeve had to blink a bit when he swallowed his next drink. 'Come on,' he thought inwardly. 'You can't lose to your employee.' He decided to sit down and lean his elbows on the bar. "Tifa, is Denzel's gameboy lying around? I would like to borrow it."
Alcohol and a gameboy. Unleash the inner frat boy ...
