Our PC couldn't handle it. It's old and ancient. If they made a Mac version I'd have considered it. But the 360 version is hot anyway. ^_^
Since we preordered it, I've been reading up some more on FFXIII. Looks sexy. ^_^

SE mistakes? I don't have enough characters in this tiny post box to list them all, so I'll revert to bullet style:
1. Dirge of Cerberus 2. Kingdom Hearts II 3. XBOX/Sellouts 4. Advent Children 5. Genesis, Lazard, Hollander
If i need to explain, I shall - but a block of text is not something people like to look at.
And yes, Zephyr, I also bought the PS3 for Final Fantasy XIII.

Kingdom Hearts II?
You broke my heart. I'm calling you out on that one. Kingdom Hearts was almost gaming PERFECTION.

Kingdom Hearts was fine, I enjoyed the experimentation.
But perhaps it was enjoyable because it was something fresh and new. The battle system was considered on the edge at it's time - and the thought of finally seeing Aeris alive was a wet dream waiting to happen for fanboys. It was a perfectly delivered magical ride for fans that Square couldn't help but screw it up with the sequel.
I personally think the only reason KH2 is popular is because of Organization XIII, or at least anyone with eyes at a convention can see that.
The characters from a writing standpoint were bad OC's waiting to happen.
BUt I'll stay sweet and just rant into the actual mechanisms and workings of the game. It was too easy. And I understand, Disney characters, targeted at a younger audience, but the game was developed by Square, Disney had no say expect that it's characters were being inserted and they gained huge publicity over it.
And I can rest easy making the statement that I'm sure a large percentage of the buyers of the game were not under the age of nine. It sits on a huge audience of Square fans, it didn't need the gameplay for a crippled squirrel. It didn't need to hold your hand through every level and break combat into a timing test with the triangle button.
They watered the game down with superhuman characters and planned to get away with mediocre gameplay. I call BS. It is their job first and foremost to create a "fun" playing experience, not just a story.

Well, is the fault really theirs, though? After all, you said so yourself: it sits on a huge audience of Square fans.
...and that's sort of my issue with all things Square Enix now. The reason I see XIII as ultimately failing is because there's no incentive for Square to innovate anymore. They've got fans who are so blindly faithful that they can produce a turd, wrap it in gold foil, and it'll sell millions despite the fact that it's a turd.
I myself was disappointed by KH2. It, like Spider-Man 3, tried to do too much. The first game was fairly simple and catered well to its demographic. The second one tried to broaden its audience, but in order to do so, it added more substance to characters and plots that, frankly, didn't need it.
The whole FF injection business, for instance. Little bits like Squall, Yuffie, and co. meeting Sora in that first game was cool. Cloud fighting in the Coliseum was cool. Then the second game came by and Cloud and co.'s story is suddenly shoved into your face. It's for fans, yes, but once you get past the initial "oh my Lantis!" sense of awe, you realize that Square's trying to place the Final Fantasy universe into the Kingdom Hearts universe... when they originally said that they weren't supposed to be the same worlds. One thing they DID do right, though, was adding Auron to the Underworld. He, like Cloud before him, made it work because it was a pretty minor part that you could just sort of enjoy.
...anyway.

I like KHII, but I think that's cos I played it first and then i found the camera controls in KH to be annoying and unworkable. Also, I like Riku's jeans That said, there was a lot that was surplus to requirements, yes.

Ren said the exact same thing - we played KHII first and she got KHI and complained that the camera controls were all funky. Also, ;D about Riku's jeans and flash of his belly-button, lol! One thing though - what the h*ll was Atlantica about? It was completely not necessary and cringe-worthy! How is a teenage SE fan supposed to play that part of the game without putting it on mute?

...the seaweed is always greener in somebody else's lake...
EDIT:
I thought it was a big improvement from the sea battle in part 1. No doubt the horribleness of fighting in the sea is what spurred Square to change that.

The sea fighting was... clunky, to say the least. Sorta like the midair fighting at the end of KHII when you go up against that big ship thing... but worse.

I got stuck in Atlantica when I played KH. Hated the controls and Ursula SUCKS.
I'm still stuck there. After like, two years.

The trick to beating Ursula is to swim around her (as far away as the controls allow) and be used as a distraction for Goofy and Donald to beat her into submission. Once in a while throw them a cure, or dive in quickly for a few hits.
It'll take a while, but it will assure you victory - after all, you'll spend the battle advancing in the opposite direction.

A strategy does not mean that the game doesn't suck, though.

And Sora is ugly in it. He's better in KHII. No, I'm not shallow. Really...
