For me it was a lack of likable characters, lazy gameplay (The Gambit system), and the license system. I didn't think the game was BAD per say, but it simply didn't live up to the hype created for it. I ran straight from school to buy it, and I was kinda disappointed. LOVED Balthier though. He's the only reason I played through it, to be honest. It was hyped?? Nothing ever feels hyped to me. Maybe because I don't actually go looking for the big stories on certain games before they come out. I read little stuff, if anything... And half the time, whatever hullabaloo people go on about is easily forgettable the next day...unless it's something like Smash Bros. or somesh*t. I liked the characters (especially Balthier and his dad <3). ._. Then again, it takes the biggest, disgusting jerk-ass ever to make me not like stuff... Gambit system, understandable. Although I pretty much took control of everybody anyways when I needed it or just wanted things done a little differently from what gambits govern. License system, inconvenient at times, but then again what isn't? And I still managed to enjoy the ride and beat the game... >_> I loved running everywhere most of all. <3 I feel like the only one, though...like I do in a lotta stuff here. Lol, not even bothered by Vaan's abs. People fuss, and I still don't get it~

I'm with Sixth personally. I kinda liked XII. I still haven't completed it just because I like running around and doing all the hunts and side-quests. I find it fun. Also Pirates, hate to nit-pick here but if they turned 360 degrees on seeing the console, they wouldn't be walking away, they would be facing it again. I think you were looking for 180 degrees

And forced unleashed fails on any console, not just the Wii. You take that back, sir, or I'll bend you over my knee and paddle you with my lightsaber until you don't have an ass any longer.

Let's list games for the Wii shall we that are not Wii-<blank>. Already out that I own Mario Kart Smash Bros Brawl Zelda TP Metroid Prime 3 (so there's your first person shooter) Far Cry (which is vsatly improved over its PC counterpart) Mario Galaxy (duh) Fire Emblem Radient Dawn Super Paper Mario No More Heroes Mega Man 9 which has DLC if you want. Plus perfect backwards compatability with gamecube. Yeah, that doesn't sound like something without lasting apeal, especially with Madworld, Punch Out and NMH2 on the way. The Wii also has full internet capabilities if you didn't know. And forced unleashed fails on any console, not just the Wii. 1) I said GOOD games. All I see there is a list of fail nostalgia titles with ever increasing sequel numbers 2) Yes, the Wii has internet capabilities. In the same way my personal planner sends e-mails. It costs to get on the internet, something that's free on the PS3, and once you're there, what do you do? Post on a forum from it saying "HEY, LOL, I M ON WII!!!" You cannot watch movies on the Wii because you cannot download Flash. You cannot download any internet software at all. So all you're doing on the internet on Wii is browsing webpages. Which you have a PC for, which is better than it at that. Online gaming? On Wii? Well, if you like gankers who leave and don't add to your rep and rubbish service that can't be smoothly updated, go for it. Otherwise, buy a REAL games console.

Ah, but having to buy an additional piece of hardware to save games on is not a new thing. Think PS1 & 2 etc. The core 360 is being sold for £129 over here I think, and with places like ebay and amazon selling dirt cheap memory cards, it actually works out at a lot cheaper than buying one with a hard drive. Oh, of course. The thing is, though, that you can't save 360 game data onto memory cards or flash drives or what have you. About the only thing you can use a flash drive (or any external memory, for that matter) for is to play music or CERTAIN video formats. It's not nearly as flexible as you'd like to think. You can't just buy a 2, 4, 8GB memory stick and expect the 360 to save perfectly onto it, because it won't do anything with it. You NEED to buy the official hard drives in order to save any type of game data. However, with my PS2 slowly dying and Blue Ray and VersusXIII looking attractive, the PS3 is starting to look a good option. Although it has no backwards compatibility does it? which for me defeats the object of buying one I have a feeling XIII is going to be a flop. I didn't really like XII and that was hyped beyond belief, so I have a feeling XIII is going to go the same way. 1.) All PS3 consoles are backwards compatible with PS1 games, but for PS2 games, there are only some PS3 models that can play them. That said, it wouldn't be difficult for Sony to release an update that allows you to play PS2 games through software emulation. 2.) Ditto on XIII looking like a flop. You take that back, sir, or I'll bend you over my knee and paddle you with my lightsaber until you don't have an ass any longer. ...Force Unleashed blows chunks. ...

This. The only reason I have a 360 is because it was a gift to my dad from his work, and I rarely use it. There are no real next-gen games that have attracted me, and my PS2 and PSP serve me fine. Yeah, I still enjoy the company of my PS2, and now that I have a PSP for Crisis Core I feel rather set. And XII was not a flop, actually. I think it did quite well.

...Force Unleashed blows chunks. Why, kajnrig? Why? Is living so very terrible for you? Do you want me to Force Choke you to death? Naww. In all seriousness, there's no accounting for personal taste. I grew up watching Star Wars, and I love picking up stormtroopers and throwing them across the room, viciously killing them. The game has its very obvious flaws and does definitely not appeal to anyone. That being said, I liked the Goddamned Rebel Assault games. If anybody knows what I'm talking about, feel free to facepalm now.

Rebel Assault? Isn't that- never mind. Checked out Gamespot and I don't even recognize it. Shame on me. I thought you might've been talking about the Rogue Squadron line of games, but I was very, very wrong. Why, kajnrig? Why? Is living so very terrible for you? Do you want me to Force Choke you to death? Hm... Force Choke does seem pretty, uh, nasty... BUT. What if I'm a ysalamiri? (Yeah, had to do a Google search on that...) Naww. In all seriousness, there's no accounting for personal taste. I grew up watching Star Wars, and I love picking up stormtroopers and throwing them across the room, viciously killing them. The game has its very obvious flaws and does definitely not appeal to anyone. Well, I love Star Wars, too (I remember religiously following "Young Jedi Knights" way back in 4th grade or so), and the STORY in Force Unleashed is really, really good, but the gameplay is just... atrocious. If it had kept the story but had a Ninja Gaiden sort of makeover, I think the whole "Force unleashed" idea would've been much more apparent. But anyway.

That being said, I liked the Goddamned Rebel Assault games. If anybody knows what I'm talking about, feel free to facepalm now. My kid is into those games. Then again, he's obsessively into anything Star Wars like woah. He even dragged me to that travesty of an excuse for a movie, The Clone Wars. I facepalm all the time in his presence.

Let's please get back on topic now. I'm pretty sure there are threads in Tifa's Bar to discuss video games and console wars. Right - Square Enix mistakes. I'd say the film Spirits Within was a pretty big one. Not a good film, plus it bombed at the box office and lost them millions of pounds.

I actually liked that film when they started airing it over here in Ireland and my little brother is fixated with it right now ... but then I got wise to FF and the difference between Spirits Within and AC is amazing, let alone between SW and the CG cutscenes of Crisis Core.

I dunno, I always thought it had a pretty good story, even if it has nothing at all to do with the prior FFs. Graphical improvements aside, Advent Children doesn't have nearly as good a story (or plot progression, or character development, or... well.) as Spirits Within does.
I still don't see what people disliked in it, save for the weird "alive but not alive" look of the characters. As a standalone story, I think it worked... fairly well.

Although it has no backwards compatibility does it? which for me defeats the object of buying one The First gen PS3s did have backwards compatibility with PS2 and PS1 games. Really not sure about why they stopped making them PS2 compatible.

Although it has no backwards compatibility does it? which for me defeats the object of buying one The First gen PS3s did have backwards compatibility with PS2 and PS1 games. Really not sure about why they stopped making them PS2 compatible. Because lots of people still have their PS2s, or they're still buying them. There's not gonna be a whole lotta demand for a BC PS3 when its predecessor is easily obtainable/affordable in comparison. So to speak. So, you can have your PS3 for the PS3 games, the Blu-ray, the customization, etc. But if you want to play your PS2 games, hey just grab a PS2, they're cheap, or hang onto the one you have now for just those sorts of occasions. From there on, it's only a matter of space management. People can handle this but others like all-in-one stuff. ANYWAYS, as for SE making mistakes... Well, I'm not as bothered by the things listed so far, because hey...whatever. The ONLY thing... Nomura. >_> He can essentially die in a pit. Kudos to him for some things but...pit.
