Yes, at last the shortlists have been posted! The first of them anyway. Look out for more later on. This thread is for reactions, discussion and speculation about the shortlists. Surprised at what got through? Or what didn't get through? Post your opinions here. Judges: do NOT post in this thread. Keep your opinions to the judging forums.

I'm kind of surprised with some of the ones that made it through. I hadn't thought they would make it...

Agreed, I read through the parody category, I was honestly surprised when How Many Ways Can You Kill a Madman? didn't get through. I have a lot of respect for someone who can post that much over a hundred days and keep a decent schedule. I'm working my way through the angst one right now so no opinions on that. I'll tell more as I read along.

I was surprised Stockholm Syndrome didn't make it in WiP. I was just so... not sue what was goin' on, that's one of my favorite stories.
Also was surprised that The Long Road Home didn't make it in best Completed stories.
Just..... shocked.

Stockholm Syndrome is a good one, I really don't see how it didn't make it. In fact a lot of my favorites didn't make it. I'm rather surprised, I won't say upset, I'm no judge, but I'm just surprised by everything.

*bows* I've just looked at the shortlists. Thank you for accepting my (Jessie / Cloud) story, Perspiration, even though I've been really shoddy about keeping it updated. I greatly appreciate it!

Hey guys, it's aardvark here. I wrote Stockholm Syndrome. I'm a little bummed it hasn't been shortlisted, although it may still be in the process. But if its isn't, then I want to thank you guys above and all the others that liked it. It's my pride and joy, even though I havn't updated in like a month or so. Need to get back to work. stick with icybrian's to get updates on chapter 19 or 20 (i have forgotten myself) if I ever get round to it. Thanks again.

I'm quite surprised that The Tea Party has been shortlisted, but then again I was also surprised someone felt it was good enough to warrant a nomination. My heartfelt thanks.
I do have what is probably a bit of a stupid question, though. When do the shortlists get parred down to winners? If the answer is sitting right in front of my face in the form of an FAQ, feel free to tell me so. I've been known to be denser than a Nibblonian's crap on occasion.

Hi, nc, it was supposed to be on March 10th, but because of the delays I think they are going to push it back a bit. You'll have to ask one of the judges or admins. They might know.
*Foamed at the mouth a bit while staring at the list*
Edit: I don't even have a clue where the 25th came from. Bah. I suck at life.
Oh... no, nevermind. I just reminded myself what date Crisis Core is coming out. Haha. At least I remembered somewhat that it was something to do with FFVII.

This is not official, but my estimate is that the final announcements will be pushed back by about a month. That brings the announcement date to April 25th, but again, that's only a pencil figure.
EDIT: Actually, the original date for the winners announcement was 10th March. So maybe 25th April is a bit pessimistic. Okay, I'll see if we can set a definite date soon.

Please do. I understand people are generally late, but all it takes is a reasonable deadline. March 30th sounds a lot more appropriate, neither insulting nor impossible. Just post a reminder to all judges that--when they do appear on the site--that they check out the appropriate threads to judge the categories.

The date for the award winners has been set for Monday 14 April, which I've put up as an announcement. Judges should have their judging complete a few days before this date so that we'll be able to announce.

The Crossover shortlist has now been announced. There is only one shortlist left to announce now: Slash Romance. That shortlist should be coming up soon!

The only one i"ve been fretting over. Pfft. My luck, lol.
So, for the cross-over's I was kind of happy with the winners. There was only one story that I really wanted that didn't get up there, but considering the fact that there was only 6 stories it's all good with me.
