This is the thread for Best Work in Progress Chaptered Fic Nominations. Post nominations that fit this category only. WiPs are multichapter fics which are not yet finished. They must be at least five chapters long. Fics that are mistakenly put here will be removed, and a member of staff will contact you to suggest a more suitable thread. For all nominations, copy, paste and complete this form, filling in all parts and post under this thread. Don't forget to check that your selected fic has not been nominated before you post, and reread the rules to make sure the fic is eligible. Title: Eir's Tomorrow Author: Hades' Phoenix URL: www.fanfiction.net/s/4223348/1Contact for Author: Contact via ffn Status: WiP Pairings: Eventual Sephiroth/Cloud, Zack/Aeris(th) Rating: M Reasons for Recommendation: It would be a lie to say that this is not one of my top favorite fan fictions ever written. The characterizations are smooth, complex, and the story line is gripping. Gaia is dying--everyone and everything is being destroyed by a plague. The day that the plague finally catches up with Cloud, he dies like a hero should. Then things get a little strange. The planet decides that Cloud needed to come back, in spirit form, to prevent its death. What do they do? Send him back to when Sephiroth is a child, where Sephiroth decides that Cloud is his guardian angel (until, of course, he gets his angelic body, wings and all, pushed into his newborn form). This story is brilliant, and it isn't even up to the romance. While it may play a large part, I think that anyone could enjoy this story. The writing is amazing, thrilling and captivating, and the hints of originality (old Norse mythology playing a large part in the story) are so different that you really have to stop and think of how brilliant it all comes together.

Title: The Left Hand of Odin Author: Bjanik URL: www.fanfiction.net/s/4511918/1/The_Left_Hand_of_OdinContact for Author: PM thru FF.net Status: Work In Progress Pairings: none Rating: T Reasons for Recommendation: It's a fine example of fanfiction greatness. It's a story that grips you with beautiful descriptions that don't pull you away from the story. It has a such a unique and well thought out plot. The OCs, minor and major, are well thought out and balanced and believable. Overall, it's a great fic that's worth the read.

Title: Final Fantasy VII: Resurrections Author: SJO URL: www.fanfiction.net/s/4455905/1/Final_Fantasy_VII_Resurrections Contact for Author: PM through Fanfiction.Net Status: Work in Progress Pairings: None Rating: T Reasons for Nomination: Given, I beta for SJO for this story. But I sincerely think that this story deserves some recognition. Not only is she meticulously accurate with the facts, tying everything to the game, she thrives on amazing plotlines. This story, set as a replacement for Advent Children, is wonderfully mysterious (I don't know how it's going to end even) and hauntingly intricate. The thorough exploration into all the parts that it's possible to expand on is true to the game and truly a fantastic read.

Title: Cold, But Not Dead Author: Counterfeit God URL: www.fanfiction.net/s/4625249/19/Cold_But_Not_DeadContact for Author: PM via FFN Status: WiP Pairings: Sephiroth/Vincent Rating: M Reasons for Recommendation: This story is just one of those stories where the author has twisted these characters into such beautiful and macabre human beings that you just have to sit back and marvel over how amazing it is. A real gem. The story is about Vincent Valentine, who, rather than being raised in the time he was, instead was born much later, after Sephiroth's birth. Instead of becoming a Turk, falling in love with Lucrecia, and the Nibelheim incident, Vincent is a young SOLDIER 3rd class who is put under the care of Sephiroth after an attack, where he is horribly injured. Sephiroth, in guilt, brings the boy to Hojo in hopes to save the boy, where said really nasty problems come into play. This is easily one of the best written fan fictions, and it really plays with emotional attachments and the human psyche. There is some romance, but really, the story does not revolve around it. In fact, it was a nice change, to be able to read something with the romance more set into the background, and more integrated into the plot. There isn't just 'Oh, I love you,' and then jumping into the sack, which sadly tends to happen. An amazing story.

Title: To Dream in Black and White Author: Ayarah Thorne URL: www.fanfiction.net/s/3882683/1/Contact for Author: PM through FF.net Status: WIP Pairings: Sephiroth/Zack Rating: M Reasons for Recommendation: This is one of the most well written fics I've come across in this fandom. The author has a very obvious gift for both the language in general and exposition. The plot is very intriguing and well thought out, and the characterization is so on target it feels like it could be canon. The strain and tension between Sephiroth and Zack not too long after Angeal's death is something I've never seen in fic before, and it's so well done here and so realistic, and though it isn't updated too often, each update is so satisfying that it's well worth the wait for the next one.
