(Vincent)
"I meant the coin." he replied icily.
------------------ (Zidane)
The whole 'staring at the dude with the tail' thing was beginning to get just a little old in Zidane's opinon...I mean, everyone kept whispering and giving each other looks and winks and he couldn't help but feel like something was up.
"So," he started chatting to the nearest person, which happened to be the girl inthe yellow dress - also the least 'conspiracy-like' "what did you say your name was again?"

Shuffeling with his cards always made him feel better, and right now, he was in a desperate need of that. Never had he felt so miserable before, never had he been so afraid or disgusted in his life. Laughing silently as he played with the small cards, he tried to shake the heavyness and fear from his shoulders, and indeed he found himself calmer and calmer for every moment. He did not relax, of course, only a fool would let his guard down in a place like this, especially after what just happened.
Only half listening to Balthier and deep in his own thoughts, he followed the older man. This... force, whatever it had been, could acctually had changed things to the better. No more irritating people, no more animals - how he loathed those creatures - only a little monster problem. Well, his new companion and guard seemed skilled enough to take care of them.
"Hmm...? Oh. Well no, I hadn't. Never been to fond of company, and most people annoy me so much I usually kill them."
When Balthier asked again, though, he coughed. "Ah. That's... not really important, is it?"
I don't know what the worlds in the different games are called.

(Balthier)
As Treyia didn't seem keen to talk about his origins, and Balthier couldn't really be bothered to grill him, so he smirked instead, "Kill them do you?" he teased, "I better watch my step then." When the boy looked about to charge again he held up his hands in a show of innocence, he was only playing around after all.
Where are we anyway? Where are we going? Any suggestions for either? Which other game-worlds?

He blinked, tilted his head slightly to one side. "Yes, I do. Can't stand most of them. So I've figured that this, well, change isn't half bad, acctually."
He smirked. "As for watching your step... paranoia can cause insanity. Of course, carelessness can cause death. But I think I'm better of with you now, concidering the little accident back there."
They continued in silence, at least until Treyia spoke again. "Tell me, are you looking for anyone? You seem... ah, worried about something. Is that something a someone?"
I don't know... either where we are or where we should go. That big shiny castle-ish building?

(Balthier)
"My partner actually..." he answered cooly, trying to keep his voice as casual and confidant as it ought be, "that is the person I'm looking for, not the...whatever that was back there." he hastily corrected, perhaps it wouldn't be wise to go confiding these secrets in a jumped up little egomaniac he'd only just met.
"Fran, she's a...never mind that, she's my partner in crime." at the mention of crime Treyia's eyes lit up, it seemed like Balthier had another Vaan on his hands, well, in some ways - this kid definitely wasn't as blatant as Vaan.
He considered telling Treyia about 'Basch' (it still stung to say it) in case he was looking for anyone, but as the boy proclaimed to be somewhat of a loner the pirate didn't really see the need to.

(The big shiny castle-ish thing happens to be the villain's lair. Where I've decided to place Sephiroth. So let's see where this goes...)
--- (Sephiroth)
The doors of the massive crystalline building loomed above him. But as large as they were, they became insignificant when compared to the rest of the building; its topmost spires were so tall they were lost in the opalescent fog that swirled around them.
Sephiroth frowned; he hated feeling small.
He pushed one of the doors, surprised when it swung open with ease. The interior was cavernous, enormous fluted pillars stretched from floor to arched cieling down the deserted chamber, and despite there being no windows the walls themselves seemed to glow with a sort of internal radience.
"Is there anyone there?" he called.

"Did you hear something just now, Treyia?"
"What?"
"Oh, never mind..."

(Selphie)
The brunette giggled. "How rude of us!" she exclaimed. "Just because you have a tail, which is really cool by the way, doesn't mean we have to act like this!"
She gave him her trademark Selphie Grin, her eyes sparkling. "I'm Selphie," she declared. "This is Squall and Rinoa, and this is Aeris and Zack."
She smiled again at Zidane, but she couldn't help but think of how much he reminded her of Zell. "We're looking for people special to us too," she said softly.

(Yuna)
Even with a weapon like the Nirvana in her hands, Yuna was still feeling highly apprehensive as she emerged from the hut, glancing about in all directions for any signs of danger. She might be known for her bravery, but the fact that it was still eerily silent did nothing for her nerves. What had occurred here? Despite all her hard work and the reassurances from the fayth, was Sin still somehow wreaking havoc again on the world of Spira? Or, was a new enemy about to arise? Either way, it seemed as though there could be no 'Eternal' Calm after all.
Thinking of the Eternal Calm made her turn towards the Besaid Temple in the distance, the place where she had become a summoner. Could there possibly be any survivors there? The Temple was a pretty solid building, and it was possible the light had not penetrated its thick walls. Determined to find anyone that could be alive, Yuna broke into a run towards the Temple. However, she had only stepped onto the stairs to the Temple when the doors swung violently open. Pulling up short, she clapped a hand to her mouth in horror.
What stood in the doorway to the Temple was unlike any monster she had yet encountered: it had a spider-like body the size of a horse, and greenish, slimy-looking skin that almost appeared to be transparent, and no apparent head. The thing barely made a sound, yet it advanced menacingly towards her, its claws clicking against the stone floor. For a few moments, Yuna was frozen to the spot, staring at where its head might have been, and then turned and fled back down the stairs.
As if sensing her flight, the thing suddenly took off in pursuit with startling speed. Yuna glanced fearfully over her shoulder at the creature, but it caused her to miss a step, and she went tumbling to the ground. Luckily still gripping the Nirvana, she sat up and prepared to swing it at the creature, though was thankfully spared the effort. The next second, a fearsome roar sounded from behind her, and while it might have struck fear into any other heart, it filled hers with riveting hope. Whirling her head around, her newfound hope was confirmed.
"Kimahri!"

(Cecil and Auron)
Auron tensed but relaxed as soon as a rat ran from the debris. He looked back at Rikku, who after seeing the rat flashed him a sheepish grin. The guardian said nothing and continued walking.
There's something very familiar about this place. As soon as he rounded the corner of the hallway he realized what it was. He recognized it instantly. The hallway opened up into a huge coliseum. The bleachers were decayed and the arena was riddled with fissures, creating little hills in all around. There was only one place this could be...
"Zanarkand..." Auron said disbelievingly. "Rikku, we're in Zanarkand."
The girl's eyes widened. "Really? Wow. But...um...where are the pyreflies?"
The guardian started scratching his chin. Where are they indeed?
The light that the pyreflies gave off usually gave Zanarkand an ethereal glow, an illusion of being alive. However, when deprived of the pyreflies, the city showed how dead it truly was.
Auron's thoughts were interrupted by a clanking sound. The unmistakeable clanking sound of armor. He barely had enough time to turn his head when a figure came out of the shadows. It was covered head to toe in dark blue armor. A small eye slit seperated its face, where two ice cold blue eyes registered Auron and Rikku.
Cecil looked over the two people in front of him. The man looked tense and had one hand on a sword that appeared to be as long as himself. The girl looked frightened and stood behind the man in an attempt to hide.
"Where is she?" Cecil asked coldly. The two responded with confused faces. "Don't play dumb! I know you have her, now tell me where my Queen is!"
Again, silence was the only answer Cecil recieved. "Fine, then I guess I'll have to use force." Taking out his sword Shadowbringer, he pointed it at Auron. "As the King of Baron, I condemn you to death. Your fate is sealed with this blade."
He turned to Rikku. "After I kill this man, I expect you to tell me where she is."
The dark knight lunged at Auron. The red-clad man had one thought. Pity this poor fool doesn't know I'm already dead.
Their blades locked and the battle began.

(Reno)
As the three of them started hopping the stones, Reno realized that he had no idea where they were going. For all he knew, Sephiroth and Weiss could be at the end of the path, playing checkers and braiding each others hair.
He snickered at his own thought and nearly lost his balance.
"Reno, are you ok?" Tifa asked.
"Yeah, its nothing, don't worry about it." He turned to look at Vincent, who shook his head slightly and continued on.
"Come on Valentine, don't be so uptight. You could give Tseng a run for his money and that is not a good place to be."
Again, Vincent chose to ignore him.
Reno hopped to the stone in front of the ex-Turk. "Ever imagine Sephiroth with a scrunchie in his hair?"
This time Vincent gave him a look of confusion mixed with amusement.
Reno smiled. "Finally I got some mirth out of this morose maroon man."
He jumped ahead and spotted something familiar. "Hey guys hold up." The blue-suited man pointed. "Is that...a meadow?"
He inspected it closer. "Kinda reminds me of the garden in that wreck you call a church."

(Zidane)Giving everyone a quick glance while trying to memorize their names, Zidane gave Selphie his widest grin and waited up on the next platform for her, “Thanks,” he said quietly, so that only she could hear, “I was beginning to think they were gonna jump me there for a sec…seems that whatwasit-Squall?-guy can’t take a joke,” Unsure if said SeeD heard him, or was just glaring for the sake of it, Zidane thought he might as well give him a thumbs up and cheesy grin to be sure. LOL at Sephy with a scrunchie. I'm at school so this is all I can manage atm, although I've got internets ban at home so (Vincent)"Hmph..." was the only comment the 'caped crusader' had to offer on the subject of Sephiroth's hair. Although that didn't mean he could get the image out of his head...

(Selphie)
The young woman's smile softened. "No problem, Zidane," she whispered back. Her mood instantly improved with the idea that Zidane was now sorta her friend.
"I was beginning to think they were gonna jump me there for a sec...seems that whatwasit-Squall?-guy can't take a joke."
The brunette laughed at the statement. "Don't mind Squall," she told him. "He's still upset at you about the flirting with Rinny. It takes him a while to warm up to people," Selphie assured him.

(Zidane)
Zidane shrugged with a backwards look at Squall, who was still stuck tightly to the side of his girlfriend. "Fine, I better trust you on that." he said with a quick wink at this new ally, who giggled and gave him a big, cheesy wink back.
"He sorta reminds me of an uptight, massively overprotective guy I know back home," he remarked while offering Selphie a hand to get between platforms, thankful that playing the gentleman wasn't getting him threatened this time. "He used to get between me and Da..." Zidane cut himself off and swallowed, then went rather quiet all of a sudden and began to droop around the edges, which slowed him down enough for the others to catch up.

He giggled. Yes, a young but grown man actually giggled. It was childish and probably unexpected, and that was exactly the way he was. "Fran, huh? What a pretty name. What kind of crimes?" He had always liked crimes, even if just hearing about them was not at all as exciting as commiting them. A thought struck him, made him chuckle a bit. "Your partner in crime? Not your girlfriend then? Interesting... I'm sure that could come in handy."
He was just teasing the older man, and his voice made that very clear. If she indeed was Balthier's girl, he did not really fancy his chances of survival.
"What was it that you heard?"

(Tifa)
As they stepped into the flower field, Tifa was hit by a wave of scattered memories. Aeris smiling, Aeris fighting, Aeris... It was similar to the feeling of being in the church. Tifa walked to the middle of the field, then let herself fall backwards into the flowers, arms outstretched.
"Can we stay here? Just for a bit" She asked Vincent pleadingly.
