This is for the FF X-over you guys were discussing. I'm making you a thread to talk about it in, okay? If a name is in red, it isn't posistive yet, so claim the character on this thread, or post as them. - - - I'm cleaning this thread up. Only the RP and this post are gonna be on here, okay? Then I'll make a new thread for Q&A. - - - Here's the map.- - - Claimed Characters ~Aeris/Aerith : Sylla~ ~Sephiroth : Sylla~ ~Rikku : Sylla~ ~Zack : Lady V~ ~Reno : Capt. Wee~ ~Auron : Capt. Wee~ ~Cecil : Capt. Wee~ ~Vincent : Fearandloathing~ ~Balthier : Fearandloathing~ ~Zidane : Fearandloathing~ ~Squall : Fearandloathing~ ~Rinoa: Fearandloathing~ ~Cloud : Daze~ ~Kuja : Daze~ ~Tifa : Leafonthebreeze~ ~Vaan : Leafonthebreeze~ ~Penelo : Leafonthebreeze~ ~Selphie : Azul Eyes~ ~Yuna : Dramaya M. Murasaki~ ~Kimahri : Dramaya M. Murasaki~ ~OC Badguy/Badgirl : Ink~ ~Yuffie : StellaLuna~ ~Elena : StellaLuna~ ~Godo : StellaLuna~ ~Cid : StellaLuna~ Any other takers? - - - Couples so far are:~Zack/Aeris~ ~Auron/Rikku~ ~Vaan/Penelo~ ~Vincent/Yuffie~ ~Zidane/Selphie (our weird couple)~ If you want your character to be in a romance, PM the RPer who is in charge of the other character, and them PM me to let me know, okay? If your character is in red on this list, it means that you still have to okay or deny this couple. - - - PLOT:-There's an evil villain/villainess (who possibly exists outside of space/time). -Their motive could be either a) they think the inhabitants of the FF worlds are not worthy of said worlds, and they want to sieze these worlds for themself, or b) they are searching for ultimate power, and want to destroy the worlds simply to become stronger. -For some reason they cause a rift in space/time (could be a natural side-effect of their presence, if they exist outside of space/time). - - - PS: If I spelled a name wrong, please let me know! Oh, and for reference, the bright blue light looks something like the Northern Lights. Just in case someone wants to reference it. ---:::--- The sun had barely risen on the grey steel-and-concrete structures of Edge when it began. At first it was just a small patch of slightly darker blue in the sky. It stayed like that for hours, until the sun had fully risen and people began to go about their daily chores. Then, suddenly, it started to grow. It expanded until it covered fully half the sky, dimming the sun and casting a pall across the land. People stopped what they were doing to stare and point, and more than one small child started to cry. Then, from the center of that patch of darker blue, a bright light stemmed a curtain of light dazzling in its brightness. From in front of a small bar, Tifa and Cloud watched, and wondered what this new phenomenon might be. For a moment the light pulsed where it was, throbbing and shimmering. Then it expanded, increasing exponentially in size and brilliance until everything- Edge, the continent, and indeed the whole Planet- was engulfed in a blinding bluish-white light. Then, it simply ceased to be. — Aeris knew something was wrong when she opened her eyes to a lush green field full of yellow and white flowers. It took her mere moments to pinpoint the source of this wrongness; the voice of the Planet was no longer with her. She remembered, dimly, kneeling on a platform, opening her eyes to see Cloud, and then the comforting presence of the Planet, and the knowledge that she was dead. But that couldn’t be right; she was alive and breathing right now, wasn’t she? No, but she had been dead- she remembered after that, helping Cloud and the others overcome Sephiroth, and those three remnants of his soul. But those memories were fuzzy, almost like something that had happened in a dream. Disoriented, she sat up and looked around, and spotted a figure with unruly raven hair lying on the grass not far from her. Lurching to her feet, she stumbled towards the figure on numb legs, and cried, “Zack!”

Zack sat up slowly, holding his head.
He looked around, the shout had roused him, but he didn't know what could be wrong... He and Aerith- they were both dead- he remembered that but the memory of it seemed to be fading even as he sat there.
He looked around at the grass and then looked up at Aerith. He grinned as he stood up. "Hi, any idea what just happened?"

Aeris shook her head mutely. She sat knelt near to him, fingering the petals of one of the bright flowers. After a moment she spoke.
"Zack... you can feel it, can't you? That feeling that something's wrong here?" She paused. "The voice of the Planet- it's gone; I can't hear it here..."
She looked up at him.
"I don't know what's happening, Zack. We were dead, and now we're alive, but we're alone." She looked confused. "I don't know what's going on any more."

Zack was quiet for a moment, but finally he nodded. "Yeah, something is wrong, and I remember being dead, but at least we're together."
"Come on," he said. He held out a hand to her. "We might as well go look around, everything seems pretty quiet here."

While the white light spread further across the skies of Edge, far away the thickest parts of it bore forth a great tree from the ether, suspended by an unseen power and raining broken sods down into the abyss below.
It was as if a godly hand had ripped the growth from its soil like it were no more than a troublesome weed, because beyond the entirety of the tree there was only void.
On one of the aged roots twisting down into nothing a couple of figures, looking up into the space around them in confusion.
"What the hell!?" Zidane cried while scrambling towards the crumbling ground and peering over the end of existance.
"Where'd all the ground go?!" Insane as the question sounded he had a point; not long ago the Lifa Tree had been rooted firmly into the earth but now all that clung to the flailing roots were a few clods of dry mud. Most of which crumbled under Zidane's weight and the Genome had to quickly claw back onto surer territory.
"Ahh!" he screamed exaggeratedly, while a little further up the root another of his kind regarded him with a skeptical eye.

He blinked slowly, looked around in confusion. The place had definitely changed after that blinding light had swallowed it... and him, come to think about it. Gone were the trees, the grass and the rock where all his things had been. What on earth... 'Wait.' he thought as realization dawned upon him. 'What was that again? ... and the rock where all my things had been! Where all my things had been. Had been.'
He let out a small, childish whine. "Ah damn... This ain't no dream."
The man reached under his jacket, at least he still had the cards. Sighing, he drew one, pouted as he looked at it. "King of spades? Why am I so unlucky suddenly. King of spades is baaad..."
You don't play fair if you play to win.
A smirk found its way to his lips, and he drew a new one, giggleling. Why let old Lady Luck decide his fate, when he could cheat and draw a new one? After all, that king of spades had not happened if he never told anyone.

Groaning, Tifa slowly got to her feet and looked around her. It seemed she had been lying in the road outside Seventh Heaven, but why?
Slowly it came back to her, the blue light, people running in the street, panicking, screaming that it was meteor returned... But now the streets were silent and empty.
Cloud... he had been with her, where was he now? And the children! As this thought came to her, Tifa ran into the bar, calling for Marlene and Denzel, but no answer came. She ran in and out of rooms, desperately hoping to find them peacefully playing together, but the bar was deserted.
Finally, she returned to her office and sat down to think. Now the first rush of panic had passed, she began to think logically. Clearly something terrible had happened, but it was possible Cloud had taken the children to a safe place. She picked up the phone to dial his number, but it was dead.
She got up to leave the room, but paused at the door and looked back. She hesitated a second, before walking swiftly across the room, opening a drawer, and pulling out a pair of worn leather fighting gloves. Pulling them on, she walked out the door, down the stairs and into the deserted streets of Edge.

"...Tifa?" A low, restrained voice murmured as its owner perched atop one of the abandoned buildings, watching the dark-haired woman patrolling the streets: no doubt she was looking for the others too.
In a few quick leaps Vincent Valentine had his feet on the pavement in behind her, and upon calling Tifa's name again she span around to face him with an incredibly relieved smile.
"I cannot find anyone." he said softly, secretly meaning 'I cannot find her', but kept that to himself...she'd turn up sooner or later. "What has happened?"

A blue light covered the cafeteria. Selphie had been eating with her friends when the blue light had blinded her. When she opened her eyes, she found herself curled up on the floor, alone.
"Huh?" A short brunette girl looked around in confusion. "What happened?" she mumbled, looking around. "Rinny! Squally!" Selphie called. "Zell! Irvy! Anyone!" She plopped back on the ground.
What had happened?

A voice from above rang out. "Aaaah!! Somebody help me!"
The two AVALANCHE members looked to the sky and could barely believe what they saw. Reno of the Turks was literally falling from the sky.
As Reno approached the ground, Vincent moved quickly to intercept and caught the Turk in his arms. The red-head cringed thinking he had hit the ground. "I'm not dead, I'm not dead, I'm not dead...."
Reno opened his eyes, realizing he was being cradled in the arms of Vincent Valentine. He jumped out of his arms quickly. "Thanks Valentine, I owe you. Next time I go out drinking, I'll give you the honor of picking up my tab."
Vincent looked at him pointedly. Reno grinned. "Yeah, about that. I was flying my copter after just finishing a mission for Rufus when I saw this crazy blue light. Next thing I know I'm falling out of the sky and my ride's nowhere to be found."
He surveyed the newly deserted Edge. "So Valentine, what the hell just happened?"

(All right, looks like things are progressing nicely.^^ For reference the white lines Aeris sees here are actually the 'stepping-stones' of the pathways; I think they'd kinda look like solid lines from a distance.)
---
Taking Zack's hand with a smile, Aeris stood up again, feeling a little more stable this time. For the first time, she paused to truly take in their surroundings; what she saw left her stunned.
The field reached almost as far as the eye could see, but above them, huge chunks of rock floated unsupported, suspended in thin air. Odd white lines stretched from the horizon upwards and across a sky filled with roiling golden clouds, or mist; Aeris wasn't sure which.
"Zack..." she said, feeling very small, "I think we're nowhere near the Planet any more."
---
(Lady V, what say you we get walking in the general direction of Balamb, so we can meet up with the VIII cast?)

(Sure!! Sounds fun!!)
"Well, what do you feel about this place? I mean, sure it's pretty, but it just looks like a bunch of flowers to me. Looks like there's something big off that way though, you can kinda see it through the clouds."

(I had a thought that random 'Otherworld' monsters could appear, to spice things up a little maybe...)
---
Aeris peered in the direction Zack was pointing; sure enough and large grey something that glinted in the ethereal light was visible- if just barely.
"You always had better eyes..." she sighed, smiling. Then she nodded. "Well, if you think so, then all right- let's go!"

(mmm yes, whoop some monsters^_^ Yay!!)
Zack wasn't exactly sure what to say when he and Aeris emerged from a misty patch of fog to find themselves at the edge of a cliff that had no bottom. There didn't seem to be anything below them either except for a thick blanket of mist surrounding everything like a misty morning along the sea. There was however, a path, leading across midair toward the great shape he'd seen earlier in the distance. Giant stepping stones that glowed an ethereal silver, they formed a seemingly solid ribbon as they lead across the formless mist, into the distance...
Well, Zack sighed, we aren't getting anywhere standing here...
He took a step onto the first of the shimmering bricks, and was relieved that it supported him easily. He grinned at Aeris, who was staring at him incredulously. "Looks okay to me."
Before she could answer, Zack heard a strange shriek, and up out of the mist came a fleshy ball with wings, one eye and a lot of teeth.
Instinctively Zack jumped off of the precarious platform, standing beside Aeris, he drew his sword...
