Seeing how my prior shot got no spotlight, I've moved it to the actual RP section.
This is where we arrange a Role-Play applying D&D mechanics; we get together online for sessions and figure out how through this thread. We could stage a campaign based on one or multiple Final Fantasy games.
Feel free to comment, but take your time with replies. Remember that people live in various time zones so we have to structure any campaign accordingly; the set time must be adhered to... once we agree on one.

Is it basically like all getting on at the same time and RPing together?

Yeah. Combining RP text, with D&D dice/mechanics...WOOHOO.
We could like, reenact the mako reactor explosion or something!
Or Cloud's date with Barret! Or chocobo breeding!
I think online...maybe on mIRC. They have bots and stuff fer stats and crap.

Yeah, pretty much get on a chat-room and we roll Dice to determine the things that happen. A little bit of research is needed to ensure we attain equivalent powers for the world, embody systems of Materia, etc, get around once-per-day stuff or simply design a few harrowing encounters with Robo-Guards (in the case of the Mako Reactor bombing). Drawing up the map with which to guide players will be a troublesome affair unless people are good at keeping track of directions and decisions made, etc.
Overall, this is something that can work. It's also a means of which to cross-over game worlds without killing yourself over stats. And hey, who here can compose a character sheet of Cloud Strife? If I get no takers, I'll try it.

Hm, a character sheet?
For...D&D? What exactly do you mean/need...?

Character Sheets are those documents printed out to effectively describe a character's powers and traits. The D&D people make fancy print-outs you can fill out, but you can make do with the following:
Player Name (to identify yer sheet!) Character Name Class/Classes and Level/Levels in each Race Alignment (3X3 determines effects and also aspects of character nature; Choose from Lawful, Chaotic, Good, Evil, Neutral, or any combination of two except Lawful-Chaotic or Good-Evil) Deity (determines religion of Cleric class and therefore potential domains for spells) Size (Large get penalties to AC, Hit, and Hiding, but bonuses to Grappling and Carrying power--Small gets the opposite. Medium is the trypical size) Age, Gender, Height, Weight, Eyes, Hair, Skin (details, details, details) Ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma, complete with modifiers every two points from 10--average--and temporary scores and modifiers) Health (Health Dice + Constitution basically; every level grants a type of Health Dice roll) Armor Class (Armor, Shield, Dexterity, Size Modifier, Natural Armor, Deflection Boost, and Miscellaneous changes plus 10; Touch AC disregards Armor, while Flat-Footed disregards Dexterity and Dodging boosts) Any Damage Reduction (how many points of damage per hit you're spared, and whether or not you possess a weakness to particular attack types or alignments) Initiative Boost (Dex + any special skill mods) Saving Throws (Fortitude/Constitution, Reflex/Dexterity, Wisdom/Will; these include "Base Saves" wrought from Class Levels, Magic Modifiers, Miscellaneous Modifiers, Temporary Modifiers, and Conditions that affect the overall ability to avoid nasty happenings) Base Striking Bonus (Class Levels) Grappling Mod (Base Hit + Strength Mod + Size Mod + Additional Mods) Spell Resistance (chance to resist spells without rolling for a save) Weapon Attacks (For every weapon owned, up to four generally. Write down Attack Bonus--Strength/Dexterity Mod + Base + Special Mods--the Damage, the circumstances or multiplier for critical, the type of damage dealt, and special notes) Skills (traditionally have a whole grid for skills to make checks with--D20+Rank+Ability Mod+Miscellaneous/Circumstantial Adjustments--and they are: Appraise, Balance, Bluff, Blimb, Concentration, Craft (Varied Skills), Decipher Script, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Disguise, Escape Artist, Forgery, Gather Information, Handle Animal, Heal, Hide, Intimidate, Jump, Knowledge (Varied), Listen, Move Silently, Open Lock, Perform (Varied Skills), Profession (Varied Skills), Ride, Search, Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, Spell-Craft (Myriad Uses), Spot, Survival, Swim, Tumble, Use Magic Device, and Use Rope.) Campaign Name (useful in identifying what world you're from) Experience Points (carefully write down your gains here) Gear (Armor, Shield, Protective Item) Other Possessions (Adventuring Gear!) Total Weight Carried (Provided everything has a weight value, which it typically does) Light Load, Medium Load, Heavy Load, Over-Head, Off-Ground, Push-or-Drag (your Strength mod determines how much you can do here; remember that certain abilities require you to be more or less unencumbered). Cash (You'll use it, you'll want it, you'll have it...) Special Abilities and Feats (Many of these, so keep track; they make you unique to the others!) Spells (Levels 0 to 9, Domains, etc) Spell Save (Difficulty Class for spells are 10 + Spell Level + Appropriate Ability Mod; include Conditional Modifiers) Languages (Dungeons and Dragons is treated as multi-lingual to separate various races and nations from each other; Common is the general all-purpose language but you get languages for every major race subtype and outside plane)
Of course, it's way too much to handle if you never played before, but I think you have. Luckily, I should be able to coach you through creating characters and, of course, the general rule is to roll a twenty-sided dice and hope for a high number. Anyway, if you want to try composing a Cloud Strife Character Stat Sheet to best reflect what he's capable of, then by all means, give it a try!
Any further questions?

Quick question: would you be basing it on 1st, 2nd or 3rd edition rules?
