Okay I know everyone is waiting impatiently for the noms to start and for the forum to start coming to life. For this purpose I cannot emphasise more the need for us to advertise. We have 5 active members right now. Not good! And even if noms are opened right now, it won't do much good if word is not spread about this award site. I know we don't have any official adverteres right now, so it will be really helpful if everyone help in the "pimping process".
Putting advertisements in your profiles in FFnet, LJ, etc is a good start, but I'm not sure if it's enough, especially if you're not a well-known writer/member of whatever site you're a part of.
For those of you who are active writers, it'll be really helpful if you start roping in some of your reviewers. If you're shy or don't want to appear desperate, you can slip it in at the end of your review replies.
Non-writers will probably have a harder time and need to be more shameless *coughs*. Okay so my suggestion is: If you read a good or at least decent story, you leave a review (try some CCs as authors who are trying to improve usually appreciate those. If the author has done something good don't forget to praise him/her. You don't want your CCs to appear "flamey"), then depending on how daring you are, you can either put the advert at the end of your review or PM the author afterwards about the award site.
Okay I know some of you are going to cry "SPAM", but the way I see it the authors benefit from the CCs and can hook up with BETA readers, get feedback on their fics, get to know other writers from our site, etc. It also benefits us as we get the chance to advertise as well as look out for possible nominations. If you choose to put your advert on the review page, in a way it's better as other readers get to see your advert as well. But it's really up to you.
There are also other ways to advertise, like making an avatar and/or signature about GA and using them in your other forums/other sites you're a part of (this reminds me that we need a site artist).
If you're a part of other Final Fantasy forums or LJ communities, you can try promoting there as well.
Not forcing anyone to do it though, just encouraging.
However there's really no point for us to be advertising and getting new members if there's nothing much for them to do. They'll just leave after awhile. Nominations need to be opened asap, but besides that we also need to think of other things to do. It'll be good if an RP thread start soon. I'm also thinking bimonthly drabble or one-shot competitions. Debates and discussions about various things will also be good. Interesting facts or news about Final Fantasy in general will be nice too. Those of you who are writers can share or discuss writing tips. *runs out of ideas*
Suggestions? Opinions? Objections?
