About what? That he was easier than a whiny sitar player?
I can just imagine it.

I always failed when Demyx make those defeat-10-clones-in-10-seconds-or-watch-your-friends-burn. Damn, he wiped the floor with my (Sora's) little heroic butt.

.... maybe it was becuase I was anal about all of my stats that I didn't have a big problem with the fight.

Thing was, I never had a problem with any other fight until then. I thought I was a bit above the mark, in fact. When you first fight Demyx he's nowhere near as tough as he is at Hollow Bastion. Even worse, if you've saved at the point just before him there's no way to go back and train, as far as I recall.

I agree, he was definitely easy to defeat in Hades. I didn't think it would be hard at all to deal with him a second time, and oh how wrong I was. Demyx may be a coward and a bit... blond, but he isn't weak. "Poor fighter", bullshit.

To get this crazy thread back on track- and to vent my frustrations...
My greatest Final Fantasy Achievement ever- is still I haven't died of boredom while waiting for Crisis Core to be released in English! Yay, go me!! ^_^

Good achievement.
Another one from me-- I played through 8 in less than 18 hours.
I didn't even dare attempt to level up, which is odd for me, considering the fact that I have to be extraordinarily high-leveled for every other game.

^ Yes, whoever thought up FFVIII's level-up system was clearly drunk at the time... or maybe evil. I can imagine him sitting at his desk, chuckling menacingly, thinking, "Boy, are the FF veterans gonna get a nasty shock!"

Mind explaining to an unexperienced non-player?

In FFVIII the monsters level-up with you. There is absolutely no point in training -- in fact, it's easier if you don't. My record is beating the game on Level 13.
However, the first time I played I was unaware of such stupidity. I was around 80-ish when I first fought the end boss. Wondering why I got pwned so bad, I went back and trained to max level, which of course only worsened the problem and made general gameplay fiendishly difficult.
One of many reasons FFVIII ain't my fave.

I know. Wonder whose bright idea it was to come up with a levelling system that rewards slackers.

I truly think they did it so they could pull in the 'casual' gamer. It was stupid-- I got extremely angry when all of a sudden killing Omega was damn near impossible because I was at such a high level. Completely and totally pwned me.
Like four times.

I think I'm yet to kill Omega (that's the one in Ultimecia's castle, right?) Somehow I managed to wipe out the other one in the Research Centre.

My achievement is thwarting Omega at Level 100.
I never looked at it that way before, but everyone hates how the creatures level up along with you and advance in their powers in doing so, so going through life at low levels is somehow better for some people.
Well my achievement is thwaring Omega at Level 100.
So there.
Still another reason why FFVIII gets flak: "we don't need to level up! In fact, its better we dont!" Yeah, well if you wanted something insufferably backwards, play the original FFII... not FFIV, mind you... II.
