Fair enough, Kaj, I've heard other people saying they think it'll suck/flop, but I know people who like most of the FFgames except IX, and as S-E games went IX didn't get the kind of recognition/attention previous games got, so, like, my point is more or less 'people like different things, and a IX-like game might not be as popular as the die-hard fans believe it will'. Personally I /want/ to believe XIII will be good, and I enjoy most games, so I think I'll love XIIIs no matter what. Plus, I'm a girl, I like pretty Pretty works for me. I hate to think something will suck, I'll always look for the good and exciting aspects. That said, I try to avoid as much XIII information as possible, because watching trailers makes me want it, and I don't want to spoiler on released information /at all/. I want to play it when it comes out with a blank mind, like I did with XII, which, even though it's not Square's strongest game ever, has some really good bits to it, and I like playing it. If you know things like, say, pairings, characters, purposes and other little bits of information, I won't be able to find them out playing the game. I think it looks awesome too bad I'll be a poor student when it /is/ out. I'll find a way somehow though.

I already have a reserve in the bank set aside for a PS3 and a few games, so I'm not even looking at it until XIII and Versus come out.

Oh, I'm sure it won't be as popular. In fact, I'd almost guarantee that an old-school FF would only sell somewhere in the hundreds of thousands, maybe barely cresting the 1 million mark (sort of like what IX and the GBA ports did, if I'm correct). The thing is, though, that popularity doesn't mean quality. I mean, just take a look at Advent Children. Sold like Wonka's chocolate bar, but it was utter crap wrapped in gold (also like Wonka's chocolate bar har har I made a funny). And on the other end of the spectrum, take a look at all the great properties Square decided to axe - Einhander (I'm serious, it could've seriously contended with Gradius and R-Type), Vagrant Story (which wasn't really axed per se, since its world is continued in all those other games, but still...), Xenogears (which they were stupid enough to give to Namco to ruin), Bushido Blade (a sequel was made, sure, but noooo... couldn't find it in themselves to improve upon the formula), and all those other great PS1 and Nintendo-era games. The Chrono series? After just two games - two of the greatest games ever created, by the way - there's nothing else? But blah. Maybe I'm just a cynic at heart.

Maaya Sakamoto the VA for Lightning ... Japanese Aerith. Didn't see that coming for the cold, un-feminine Lightning.
