Never have children! Never have children!
No other thought seemed to come to Elena as she watched the slight scene the seven-year-old was making. As Marlene calmed down somewhat, Elena ventured another question.
"Marlene, where's your Daddy these days?"

While Cid did love Marlene, her screaming coupled with his migraine made him want to strangle the little girl until the light left her eyes. Measuring each word carefully, Cid opened his mouth to speak.
"Marlene, if you don't shut the fu....racas down you won't get the present I brought for you."
Good save Highwind.

Marlene paused mid-pester when she heard the word 'present' and unfortunately for Cid he had get to realize the colourful funhouse that was the working of a child's mind...
"PRESENT!? WHATISITCIDWHATISITCANIHAVEITNOW?!!!" All things considered, he probably would've been better telling her to f***off.

The thought of work suddenly seemed sooooooo much better! With Richard still on about chocobos, Elena's blush still slowly receeding, Cid mumbling a blue-streak under his breath, and Marlene's unnatrually high pitched voice - a day at work seemed so much more inviting!

Faye chuckled mercilessly at Cid's predicament. She drummed her fingers on the table in front of her, biding her time for the perfect opportunity. Everyone seemed to be having problems today and the raven haired woman was enjoying it.
She winced slightly as Marlene's voice assaulted her ears, no matter how amusing a little girl's high pitched voice yelling was not pleasant.

Reno slung his suit jacket over his shoulder, slipping a cigarette between his lips.
I need a good drink... or three, he thought, rubbing the back of his neck. The day hadn't been easy-- yelling, a bit of shooting and a couple of bodies. Nothing too bad, considering. And, going to the Seventh Heaven afterward was just the icing on his somewhat perfect cake. Seeing Tifa's assets was enough to perk him up. Plus the little kid liked to slip him drinks.
His little girlfriend.
Reno snorted and walked in the door.

The door opened and the almighty himself walked in.
"Where the hell have you been?"
Elena shot Reno a pointed look as she asked the question, noting Marlene's head immediately shooting up and looking towards the door, all thoughts of Cid's present forgotten. Cissnei seemed to be the one blushing now...

If I keep looking at the counter - maybe they'll all just leave me alone ...
Wow - she'd never noticed how intricate the grain of the counter was ... despite herself, Cissnei laughed lightly as Marlene set to perch herself upon the foot-stool once more, evidently in a bid to get her boyfriend a drink.

Cait Sith bounded in, looking cheerful as always. He hopped up onto the counter. "Hello lads and lasses!" The robotic cat's head tilted when he saw Cissnei staring at the counter. "Trying to read the future in the wood grain, lass?"

Cissnei shook her head as she kept her eyes defiantly glued to the polished wood, so far they'd all left her alone, minues the mog, but he'd only just appeared, so he didn't really have reason or cause to draw attention to her. "Nope - just trying to ignore the present."

"More like avoiding..."
Elena dodged an elbow form her colleague, attempting to hide a smirk, but not really suceeding.

Cait scratched his head, bemused. "Not quite sure what you're getting at lass." The cat perked up suddenly. "How about I tell your fortune? That'll take your mind off whatever's bugging you!"

It seemed harmless enough - that's what Cait Sith did, wasn't it? Tell fortunes. Though he did seem a bit overly-adamant about telling her her own fortune, but what could possibly go wrong? With a simply nod of her head, Cissnei gave the little cat the go-ahead. "Okay then, go ahead."

The blond Turk propped her head up somewhat and faced the animatronic cat upon the counter. Despite the fact that he'd been talking to Cissnei, she was curios, so Elena ventured.
"What the hell, read my fortune..."

"Okay then! Two fortunes for the two lasses." The robot thought for a moment, then pointed at Cissnei. "Here's your fortune lass! Your love light shines the color red!" Cait scratched his head. "Huh, that's an interesting one." Turning to Elena, he smiled. "And your fortune is.... Love is on it's way. Huh... Somebody must be in love otherwise I'd not be telling these kinds of fortunes." He looked around the bar. "I wonder who... What do you lasses think?"
