Starting this August, we're hoping to add a new activity to those already taking place here on Genesis Awards: a monthly contest. For this we are going to need everyone's input, seeing as each month's challenge prompt will be chosen from your ideas.
We're looking for fresh, creative ideas that can be executed using 5,000 words at most. Please describe your idea in detail and tell us why you think it would make for an interesting challenge theme, then send it to me in a PM titled "GA Contest Prompt".
Below is an overview of how the contests will be held. The procedure is subject to change, so feel free to let us know if, in your opinion, something should be altered.
- Everyone can participate.
- During the first week of each month the new challenge prompt will be posted in the relevant thread. All participants have until the 25th of the month to write and send their entries to me.
- All entries must be sent to genesis.challenge@yahoo.com as an attachment. The documents must be in rich text format.
- All entries, for the convenience of the people working this operation, must be coded by the authors. By this we mean that if there are italicized words, one must have [ i ] insert word here [ / i], for example (except with the spaces taken out). The same goes for bolding, underlining, etc. This way, when posted in the appropriate thread, the challenge entries will be formatted according to the author’s original intent.
- You should expect the entries to be posted some day from the 25th until the end of the month. The entries will be posted on the forum anonymously to prevent the members from voting with biased criteria. The entries must not be posted on fanfiction.net or any other site until the poll is closed next month, since a simple search could provide anyone interested with accurate results.
- During the first week of the next month, a poll will be opened and a new challenge prompt will be posted.
- The poll will be closed on the 25th and the results will be announced on the same day that the new entries are posted.
- Entries may be posted publicly after the poll has closed.
- Please vote for your entry only if you honestly believe that it deserves to win.
